With the respective levels of advertising, many probably don't know about PES.
And parents will buy what seems to be the most popular or because the kids saw it on TV with their favourite player advertising it.

There should be a PES3 TV ad with a Beckham free kick and Van Nistelrooy lob goal and stuff like that to show what is in the game rather than top level footballers wondering about a "12th player".

This is football? Played it on PS2 for approximately 1 minute, that was all it took to make up my mind.

Looks good, plays crap. Kids game with licenses.

The only good thing about this is football is that you can play with Division one clubs. I got to see Reading playing in the premiership :D

That could be the only way you'll see Reading in the Premiership for the time being!

Mind you i support Ipswich so i cant really take the piss. Hey, perhaps i should buy This Is Football to fulfil my dream of a speedy return to the Premiership for the mighty Tractorboys!;)

Well, we had a great season last season and came close to getting promoted. Hopefully we'll be able to make automatic promotion next season. We couldn't have asked for an easier start :D

If only PES had division one teams in, then it really would be the perfect game.

There is an English Evolution patch for WE6:FE.
http://www.we-uk.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

If PES3 is on CD rather than DVD, there will be plenty of patches like this for it too.
Inlcuding things like proper kits with logos and great advertisiing boards etc. All you need is to download them and burn the patched game image onto a blank CD.

The Div one teams have low stats as you would expect but it is probably just right for you fans of the non-feature teams.
Imagine playing master league with your fave team!

But is it poop, plop, poo, puppylove, pumplumps, pellets, kaa kaa, shit or dogshit?

Cureton77, It was a real shame that Reading or Forest didn't get there. Can't stand Wolves or Sheff Utd!

I borrowed Fifa 2003 off a mate and i literally played it for ten minutes.

It was then on my shelf for about 4 weeks before my mate asked for it back. (And that was only cause he saw it on my shelf!) It is so crap that he forgot he had even lent it out!

Say all you want about FIFA but it made more strides than Pro Evo 2.

FIFA saw what people like thought of it and have actually put a lot of effort into 2003 to make it better and after playing on it i can safely say they have made it a HELL of a lot better.

Pro Evoloution 2 is still better, it wont get as many sales as FIFA but i dont see that changing anytime soon, or at least until Pro Evo gets a full license.

One thing that is going to determine which one comes out on top is who breaks into the online scene first. if FIFA do it there is no way for Pro Evo to beat it sales wise...ever but if Pro Evo does it first we could see FIFA's demise which in fairness wouldnt be a good thing anyway because we all need competition.

FIFA 2004 will have online play. PES3 currently does not... OPSM2 are possibly gonna launch a campaign next month to lobby Konami. Can we officially lend our weight to this lobby, Zyg? How about my petition again in the form of a poll?

Cureton77, there is a Crystal Palace fan who got inside of WE6:FE and edited one of the pitches until it looked closer to Selhurst Park, with flags banners and all that.
It's possible any other stadium can be made with enough effort.

STOBZILLA, of course fifa has improved more than PES.
fifa was smelly goo to start with and couldn't have gotten worse.
ISS Pro Evo 2 on PS1 is still a better game than the latest fifas.
PES is indeed being improved.
PES2 was disappointing but if PES3 incorporates what's in WE6:FE and more of what is being promised, it will be a huge improvement and still be leagues ahead of fifa.

reb, OPMS2 is very confused itself about the online issue.
July OPMS2 Mag:-
Page 24 -
"Confirmed: Winning Eleven Seven (PES3 ) has online play.
Rumoured: PES3 will not include WE7's online mode."

Page 27 -
Same as above but hoping to get Konami to change their mind.

Slightly different is ->
Page 28 - Article about Club Football:
"Rather shrewdly , the developer has included control set-ups to suit all backgrounds - there's a PES one, a FIFA one and a unique Club Football configuration. What's pleasing is it doesn't take long to get your bearings - these guys are obviously PES fans themselves. And until PES3 brings us licenced teams (it will surely) the 'real-life' element - the inclusion of player likenesses, kits and stadiums - momentarily gives Club Football the edge over the Konami game."

Oh and on page 29 there is a little piece of info about a competition to find the best gamer in the country.
If you are interested it takes place in 50 Virgin Megastores nationwide on 13 June.
er... oops!
You would have had to play Hulk if you were quick enough to make it.
Oh well. When did the July issue even come out?
Was there much chance of anyone finding out about this great competition?

Other than that I don't think there is really a race between fifa and pes to go online.
fifa will always sell more and online will only encourage.
Hopefully Konami can learn from the fifa online game to make their own version for WE8, PES4 or whatever even better.

Fifa represents everthing that is ugly in the game of kings.
the evolution series has so much more to offer.
The editing is a game in itself, which can be challenging.
The moment i saw the giant poster showing Ravineli and Ince on it,I knew this was the begining of a beutiful relashionship
.:)

fifa 2001 and 2002 were genuinely bad games where as fifa 2003 is actually quite good. the gameplay of pes2 is far superior though.
