personally i am looking forward to an ATI Optimized HL2...

I guess I am too but I don't like this "Optimised for card XXX" shite.

I can think of one game that supports it. Plus the new Prescott chips get stupidly hot. My cash is going into an A64 this summer.

And A64's have hypertransport, that has to be better than hyperthreading... because it says sport, and everyone knows that sport is better than reading lol

Yeah I know.. shockin' turn around isn't it? After advising everyone who would listen to go P4, I am abandoning you all in favour of AMD. Oh well, I want 64bit goodness, and bang fo buck, the A64-3000 just pips the P42.8-3.0

It shags the P4 in every 3D benchmark I can think of. However when it comes to overclocking, at their peaks (I know each chip is different but on average) they are neck and neck.

Elfinke : Of course no one (or at least no one dry try upgrade system with duron about 1 ghz with rad 9800 - it is money wasting and is foolish. Duron is cheap proc. and is close-out sale. Athlon XP Barton 2500+ don't cost much more and if you have little bit older piece, without superlock, in 90 % of cases can be overclocked to XP 3200+ (best with Nforce2 chipset).

hey dont knock his duron 1G that exact processor served me well... well.. no it didn't that is why i got rid of it...

i would say that you merely persuaded me elfinke... i believe you showed me the light and i decided to spend the extra money and i am lubbing it...

A64-3200 wq/ 1mb l2 cache (yeah heheheh, 1mb)
Nforce3-250 (not out yet)
1gb ddr geil gold dragon/mushkin/corsairxms3500 (2-3-3-6timing, not ideal, but <$400 for it)
1x WD raptor 36gb hdd, + 1x 120gb WD cavier hdd
codegen case w/350w psu...

or something like that.

I don't need no stinking gfx card... my GF2MX is pure class, it has served me well..

And I've scrapped the 36gbraptor idea, no need just yet. And calling ME hally? /me shakes fist with anger at -=101st=-...
