How do I get high match ratings?

Besides scoring goals and not get carded, what other factors matter? Number of successful passes? Shots on target?

Passes, shots on taget are good but 1 thing alot of people dont know is that it analyises your placement on the pitch. So in your own rating you see where abouts on the pitch you were active. So say if you were a right winger, if you had green patches all down the wing on your rating page that would help alot ontop of the passes etc you do.

Just imagine what would get a player Man of the Match in real life.

- Succesful Passes
- Interceptions
- Tackles
- Assists
- Shots on Target

The best tip I can give for people with rubbish stats is to get envolved as much as possible just by doing simple passes. call for the ball when your in space and play it simple, don't try complicated through balls, at least not till your stats are up a bit.

Just remember, all the AI knows is facts like how many succesful passes, how many shots were actually on target. It won't care that your brilliant through ball over the top almost created a goal, were it not for the keeper's brilliant reactions to get there first. It'll just mark it down as a unsuccesful pass, giving away possession

Good post, thats exactly how i started getting better ratings. It feels a bit like cheating but if i got the ball, say 40 yards out, in a game i felt i had done badly in, i would often just shoot as long as i was at an angle i felt i could comfortably get the shot on target from. The shot would be weak as hell and be an easy save but i know my rating will go up as a result

Equally if we are losing by a couple (or winning by a couple) and i move out wide to recieve a pass, i tend to think it isnt worth crossing it as even a good cross will simply be viewed by the AI as an unsuccessful pass if no one manages to get on the end of it. I take the risk if the game is close but, if it isnt, i tend to just turn around and play a simple pass backwards

I have 7.3 on Middlesbrough, but I'm the best striker of all the leagues with 20+ goals (iplayonbegginermode)

But what you need to do is play right, stay on your position and make a lot of goals...

Shots on target are a sure lock, but if you have goal chances (shots worth of replay),your rating also goes up, even if the shot wasn't on target.

I had a game with 0 assists and 0 goals.... and 7.0 rating.

But I participated in 2 dangerous situations:

- In one, I crossed, someone headed to the bar and another guy finished it on the rebound.

- The other I served a through ball to someone who crossed for another guy to score.

P.S: Yellow cards and offsides are complete downers... I once scored 2 goals and got 6.0 because I had 3 offsides and a yellow...

so can you call for the pqss or does the cpu decide when u get it?

Double tap R2 and your player calls for the ball, the PC will pass to you if there's a clear line, you're close enough, and generally they don't back pass.

If all that happens, they'll pass to you 90% of the times...

I think it also depends on yours and theirs team work stats... just a guess.

Sometimes, especially after you're a starter, they'll pass it to you without you asking for the ball...

Well, I just scored a hat-trick as CF, 5/5 shots, 24/23 passes, 2 interceptions, 2 fouls (1 offside), no cards. I even created a few chances for my teammate CF, he just missed them. I got a 6.5. WTF???

Actually 2 of my teammates had 7.0 in the same game, one with a goal, the other with 2 assists, but they had worse pass percentage, and less interceptions. And one of them also had an offside. I have no idea what did I do wrong.

I think interceptions work wonders
i had a 7 or more in agame where as a CF i had 1 shot off target anf 6 good passes but 3 interceptions

also dribbling distance is importnat too, well as a centre forward as it helps me drive my team forward...i found that the more dribbling ive done the better ratings ive got...
I dont think passes have much to do when it comes to CF rating!

how do we our team mate run into space?

im pretty clueless about making interception so what i did was to man mark or pressure an open player while my team mate pressured the player holding the ball.

sometime i get lucky, they pass to the player i was man marking/pressure.
slide a tackle then steal the ball

Wrong positioning?

The area of play graph looked pretty much identical to the other CF who had 0 goals, 2 assists, and a 7.0 rating, so it can't be. My average is about 6.8 this season after 32 games, and obviously I don't score a hat-trick every game, so my positioning can't be that bad, I get a lot of 7.0's, even in games with no goals or assists. I gained the positioning special ability last season too, although I think it's based on stats, not actual gameday performance.

Anyway, scoring a hat-trick in a game we won should at least earn me a 7.5 automatically, regardless of pretty much everything else. It usually does, but this time, I have no idea what went wrong.

I believe the weight of each stats depends on your actual position. If you play as a striker, score a couple of goals and pretty much nothing else, you can get 7.0+ easily. But if you're a CM you might only get about 6.0 - 6.5. It's also said in one of the tips so it must be true :p

I'm playing as a CM at Man Utd at the moment. In one match I made 1 goal and 2 assists, but only about 15 passes, and I scored 6.5. In another match I did about 30 passes and absolutely nothing else, and I scored 7.0..

I also suspect your ratings are relative to your teammates. So if you score a hattrick but 2 other players made 2 goals and 3 assists each, your final rating may be lower than if you score the winning goal as a single striker. (So if you're playing a weak team you won't get the whole team scoring 8.0).
