How do you connect PS3s to the Internet?

I've got a question for all you online PS3 gamers: How do you connect PS3s to the internet so you can play online against others.

I'm sorry if the answer to this question is in the PS3 thread, but I simply haven't got the patience to browse through almost 50 posts at the minute as I am in a Internet Cafe in Cornwall with only 11 mins left!!!

Help would be greatly appreciated :D

Then you should have no problems, just go into settings then network settings and the rest should be pretty easy.

thanks mate: U R the best!!

1 problem: my wireless router is very secure and u require a passphrase and u have to do all sorts of annoying things to gain access to it (I made it very secure because there were loads of my neighbours trying to use it lol the daft people) . Would I be able to connect to it via my ps3???

As long as you have the password, yes. No problems, you could always just connect it using a cable. That's just not as cool though

How would I connect my PS3 to the Internet by using a cable??? I would have to have cables running through the whole house because the wireless router is my dads and he has it in his office and wouldn't let me move into my room because then we would have to configure it all over again.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I've got a Xbox 360 and I had the same problem as you and I had to buy a wireless adaptor which was £60. That's if your router is downstairs and your Xbox is upstairs and you want to go online. I presume the PS3 must have a similar sort of product available to buy? If not then you may have to take your PS3 downstairs or move your router upstairs.

Click here to see the adaptor for Xbox that I'm talking about.

I searched for a similar product on the PS3 but couldn't find one. Surely the PS3 can pick up a wireless router in a different room by itself with the price it costs?

Why? What does Wi-Fi do exactly???

I'm sorry lads, I don't know anything bout all the technology on PS3s even though I own one.

All I know about is BlueTooth at the mo...

Well if that's the case just go on your network settings on your PS3 and then it should find them automatically. You have a wireless router so I have no idea why your asking about cables....

Just considering some other options before I get cracking with the wireless router because it is very secure and u have to do all sorts of things to get access to it, that's all.
