How to control the goalkeeper on breakaways

I play against my friend and he always does the same trick to fool my goalkeeper when his striker is alone on a breakaway. I want to control the goalkeeper when he is on the breakaway because I know exactly how he will move...any suggestions?

Yeah, first you have to set the goalie control to manual in the player setup screen (the screen where people pick sides w/ controllers), then I believe it is L1 + Triangle to select the keeper. I could be wrong but I know it's possible, and I think that's how it's done.

Not what you wanted, but it might force you friend to do something different. If you hold triangle your keeper will rush out to close the angle down.

Set the Goalkeeper cursor to 'On' in the player select screen, and anytime the opposition is in your half, if you press triangle whilst holding L1 you will take control of the goalkeeper.

I tried what Aaron said but it doesn't work. I press it when they are in my half and it doesn't change to the goalkeeper. When I press the triangle with L1, the goalkeeper just keeps charging out. I want to be able to control the keeper. Any help?

Sounds like you didn't change the keeper control option. Pause the match and then press R2 (I think) so that the keeper cursor option is on. Then do what he said.

I did change it at the player's setting. The goalie cursor is on. When my opponent is attacking, I try to press L1 + triangle together but it doesn't change to the keeper. However it did happen when the ball was very close to the keeper once or twice after trying many time. But it seems that if there is another of my player closer to the ball, pressing L1+traingle would not change to the keeper...

Perhaps hold L1 and then press triangle rather than pressing them simultaneouslty?

Btw, controlling the goal keeper will do nothing to stop it falling for a shot-fake.

u can control the keeper by doing the super cancel (R1+R2)
move him then press Circle for him to slide or catch the ball. (breakaways)

this is in WE10, am not sure abt other versions.
if u did it wrong, ull get a red card.
