How to jump?

I have been playing WE/PES very actively for about 2 to 3 years already. Never once was I able to evade a tackle by jumping. The tutorials(from all their previous editions until current) consistently mentioned that we have to press R2 . I have tried with various stages of timing without any success.

Has anyone able to perform this act at least once and how?

I did it once.

Its only when you get slide tackled and if you are running at them straight on you can jump over the top. I find it insanely difficult to do as you never no when you are about to be tackled??

How did you do it? YOu did it with one particular player....??
I wonder whether a player's attribute has anything to do with this.

i know....requires a lot of stamina in the fingers (many years of playing button mashing games) when i know a geezer is about to tackle me (in general..not just slideys) i button mash :R2:........it happens if your quick enough

I hope not as that would spoil all the fun. The reason I'm bringing this up is that I could have scored the most beautiful goal in the world yesterday. As I could not evade the last defender's sliding tackle, I could not score the goal after a fantastic run reminiscent to one Maradona did to England in the 1986 World Cup. If I scored I could have saved the replay.

yeh i have this argument with my m8 all the time and he says its the comp doing it but im sure its me hitting the R2 button!

Yea i frequently jump tackles in pes4, just by pressing R2 really. Dont think its done automatically.

Happens to me EVERY game...sometimes when I dont want to jump....espcially when jumping over the keeper (if I go round him), and a defender always gets to the ball before me. I use the R2 button religiously when playing Pro Evo, so that's probably the case.

I know it is R2 to jump but it is also to evade without jumping and that is the problem. It is dual function and at times it just does not match with your intention.

Sometimes when you use R2...you guy jumps over the player, but the players takes the ball and your guy runs on looking stupid..
