How to save a free kick with your goalie..

I noticed that all you have to do, when the computer or my mate gets a free kick in a good position is to hold "y" on xbox, which is the button that makes your goalie run towards the ball.. No one has scored a freekick on me since then.. :S So now my question.. Is there any negative thing about it? It was better before I knew that you could do this, because now when I play with my mates, we get freekicks 1 meter outside the penaltybox, but still we wont shoot, because we know that the goalie will save it.. You also hear clearly when someone will shoot, or pass.. The crowd screams when you shoot, so you know if you should press the "y" button or not... What should I do when I get a freekick outside the penalty box?

first of all that is actually a bad idea koz when u bring the keeper out it normally gives space for the ball to curve in ? to be honest unless your not curling it i cant see how you havent conceeded a f.k CURL THE BALL! then ull score

you could try using your kicker 2 by surprise?

May i ask how to use 'kicker 2' by suprise. ?
My mate said that his kicker 2 just took the free-kick instead of the intial kicker which is kind of cool. Is there a certain button you press for this to happen ?

Hmm depends although I get alot of curl with it.

I agree with that. And I also think the ball curls better over the wall, so it can suprise the keeper. But the power isn't as good.

I'm telling you guys, you CAN'T conceed a goal DIRECTLY , no matter how much your opponent curls the ball or how much he or she suprises the goalie, if you hold y. I've played like 60 games on xbox live, haven't conceeded a single goal. It may be possible to score a goal by passing the nearest player and shoot, but directly, it's impossible.. Im telling you, try it! :)

Are you saying it's impossible to concede a goal from a free kick whilst playing a mate?

Bullshit.

In a tournament me and my mates had, my winning goal in the final was a free kick. No lay off, no second man. Ronaldinho bent it over the wall and into the side netting. What a way to win a tournament i tell ye...

next time u get a free kick just outside the box....try using a powerful kicker and hold up and tap square and hit the ball in the corner where the goalie is stood....i hav scored on 6* from 45y with carlos straight into the top corner....give it a try u might be suprised

I have scored direct free kick goals online both with xbox and pc using Beckham, Carlos, Zidane, Robert and a few other players. It's much harder to score a free kick when playing as a client but at home it is certainly not impossible.

ok, then something is wrong with my xbox , but i guess it's just good since I can't conceed freekicks :) Because im telling you, even Beckham and Roberto carlos can't score a goal on me on a distance of ~20 meters..

I am afraid that it just isn't true. Like you I have the XBOX version, and my mate tried your "tip". It didn't work for him. His keeper ran out towards the ball, but then started to backpedal and could only dive in desperation as the ball ricocheted off of the crossbar and into the back of the net.

Well done, your tip is perfect ;-)

maybe it's just that whoever is taking the free kicks don't take them well enough..
Just a thought

Lol, u speak like u have never met a spurs fan before. Well, you've just met one more. And yes, it is great supporting spurs. WE WANT THE DOUBLE!

The tip that this guy gave about saving free kicks doesn't work, not even on my PS2. It just led to me giving away loads of silly goals or the goalkeeper making loads of really sketchy saves.

Well, my keeper often stands still with free kicks. You often get the feeling he could have saved it, but he just stands there, looking at the ball passing the line.
