I keep hearing people complaining about the defense in their team. The way I play is usually manual control so I switch to the play closest to the ball and defend myself by following/covering the striker and making tackles.

I haven't played pes09 yet (i'm in the US). But that's what I did on all the previous winning/pes games. Is that changed in 09 or it's just that they let the AI defend instead?

If all the foreign players stick to there own servers ie French in French and so on, this will reduce the lag. And if Konami pay for better servers this would be solved. It pisses me of when you get french, german etc invading and lagging the english servers, stick to your own servers dickeds you dont like the english so why come into english servers PRICKS.

Not all the time. ive played french, german and even a yank and had green green conections..the game is not worth playing unless green green and even then the controls are still no perfect..maybe we are missing the real reason why it lags??? most other games are fine even fifa, so why has pes been shit for 2 years...!!! after all the shit they got last... how does it run on pc?????

they have change the defensive physics a little, some good things some bad and some just different...

Don't be blinded by your love for Pro Evo, go for FIFA this year. It's much better overall. Maybe if Seabass sees all the converts, he'll get off his lazy ass and make a stunning game for next year.

PES09...crap?
What are you people smoking? The AI in this game is a lot better, the passing, shooting, tackles (sometimes bugged, but that's ok), stamina etc are all perfect.
Player movement is fluid as, a real human doesn't stop to make a turn. Dribbling in close quarters, crossing...

Ya the game has bugs, ya the online is messed, but EA is no better, wait until more people buy FIFA and try playing on XBL, EA is notorious for horrible servers and constant down time.

I have a question to all of you FIFA people, what does FIFA09 have over PES09, minus the bugs as FIFA as some as well.

Evolution mate... Although I hate to say it, I think FIFA is pretty decent this year & is a vast improvement on last years version... PES on the otherhand just feels like a slightly slower and more dfficult version of last years game, well and graphics are slightly better. But apart from that nothing has changed. Same boring gameplay

You didn't answer my question.
I don't know what football you people watch, but FIFA is completely arcadish in movement at how fast the ball and players move.

Again I'll ask:

What does FIFA09 have over PES09 minus the bugs from both games?

what the hell? what are you smoking more like! I want some if it makes you think all the above is good! Stamina realistic?? Joleon lescott played in every game for everton last season (or maybe missed 1) but can he play 3 consecutive games for me in pes2009?? hell no!! nor can any of the other players! That is repeated throughout so often it's ridiculous! and the crossing??? How can anyone think that's good? Where's the pace?? I seem completely unable to cross it to the back post and they're all just floated over at a pace that would give my 98yr old crippled granmother time to hobble from end of the pitch to the other before the ball actually came down again. I want to whip em in low and hard a la real top class football not this school boy level of passing. And when I do cross my strikers AI is so shit that they're hardly ever in a position to actually receive it. Shooting???? Why the hell do they all insist on side footing the ball all the time?? What's wrong with drilling it in with the top of their foot? Every time I cut inside a fire a shot in they bloody side foot it, normally over the bar, instead of cutting across it or drilling it with other foot..

GOD DAMN THIS GAME IS SO ANNOYING!!! GOD STRIKE YOUR LAZY MONEYGRABBING ASS DOWN SEABASS!!! (still won't tounch fifa tho)

i like the over the top fatigue as it forces you to play some of youre younger players and gives you more to think about,at time it can be irritating sometimes but i like it. I cant stop playing this game especially since discovering manual passing and the buzz of pes is back for me

Hold down the cross button, for a harder, strong cross. If you tap any button (pass, cross, jockey), they will be weak attempts.
I haven't had a single problem with the game (besides BAL crashing because of the resolution problem). As for stamina i was refering to "in-game" not out of game. Mind you I play the game as if I were on the pitch. Shooting to me is completely fine. You have to have your player in proper position to increase accuracy and power, you can't just randomly shoot anymore and expect it to go in. The striker AI is fine, I don't care if they score or not, I'm tired of the 3-0, 4-0, 5-0 wins and the shots from mid-half going in all the time (mostly occurs with FIFA, and still does to this day). Tired of beating 3 defenders to constantly getting break-aways.

PES09 is a huge improvement and in my eyes and many others a very very good football game. The only people complaining are those that expect everything they do to work 90% of the time. If you want that to happen play on the easiest level or go play FIFA.

Well maybe your opposite foot frequency is low as well as accuracy, and the fact that you are cutting in 99% of the time a real human will use the outside of their foot, unless the position themselves instantly facing the net.
Good this game is so real its not even funny and the fact that people are complaining about the stupidest things is unreal. Go play some real football and then play PES09.

Still no answer to my question.

Completely agreed, even though I haven't used manual passing yet.
I like the challenge that PES brings. My brother is a die-hard FIFA fan, has had 09 for 2 weeks and is already back to playing Madden.

Fifa has better teammate AI, meaning you can put together slicker passing moves. The speed of passing can be varied more, rather than lightning speed daisy cutter passes all the time. It has better better first touch control. You can run in more directions. You have to time your headers at all times, rather than you and your opponent just locking onto where the ball will land, and whoever has the best stats winning it. The overall feel and look of the game is more life like. Online works absolutely perfectly for me everytime, with no lag at all. It has 10v10 online, and you can join a club, allowing you to get some good teamwork going.

It has it's flaws as well. You can't super cancel to change the direction of your run, some players are far too fast, sometimes it's hard to switch to the player you want control of, sometimes players stop for a second when chasing the ball, and defenders play too high up the pitch (you can fix this though if you get your tactis right). Despite these flaws i still prefer it to Pro Evo though.

Obviously you haven;t played Fifa. It's more in depth and harder than Pro Evo. I've only just converted from Pro Evo, but i can tell.

there are aspects of pro that are unrealistic but this has always been the case, i just feel that when i play pro i feel like i am much more involved in a football game than when playing fifa, i also feel pro has much more depth although fifa is good football sim

Huh, slicker passing?
LOL, FIFA's passing is ridiculous. You can one touch all the way to the opposition goal, uninterrupted. And the fact that just by hitting the pass button your player completely changes stance automatically is a joke. PES09 is about positioning, so if your are facing the "passer" and want to one touch to someone behind you, your pass won't be accurate/strong as your player won't automatically spin around and pass it.

Believe me when i say this, FIFA09 online club play will be destroyed in less then a 2 months. People will find that one exploit, that one move to score and it will be then end of it all. EA does not fix exploits.
The overall look and feel of Fifa is more realistic? HAHAHA. Now I have heard it all.

i dont like the normal default passing in pro it is far to easy and unrealistic so that is why i only use manual which makes it the greatest game ever.

It's true, Pro Evo looks robotic and old school in comparison. And Pro Evo is ridden with exploits too. 180 degree turns in the box until you get an easy chance to do place it in are still abundant. And i'd like to see you one touch pass all the way down the pitch on "legendary" difficulty setting. Not gonna happen mate.

I've owned every Fifa game on every console and PC. At its the same thing every year. Find that one way to score and never lose.
I've played FIFA09 with my bother and there is NO major differences then 08. Its the same game (as EA does with all their sports game, 3 years of the same crap and then a small change).

Fifa may be more in depth as EA is the biggest game publisher on the planet, but i find any EA game on its maximum skill level still to easy as that one way to score works on any level.

I've never played FIFA lol. I was a HUGE FIFA fan until my friend told me to try PES5, and since then FIFA has been a major disappointment year in and year out to me, so much that I won't bother buying FIFA09.

What? I care not for graphics at all. God I still play Day of Defeat and Half-life still and those are games from the late 90's/2000.

I have yet to see a 180 degree turn in PES09, actually its possible in real life as well.
You've never seen me play FIFA, so how would you know if I can't one-touch down the field. Its a generic football game, that takes no skill/knowledge of the game to play.
The AI is so weak in FIFA its not even funny. Changing skill level just tweaks the AI speed, shooting etc.

Meh I don't care anymore, FIFA is a horrible game that has suckered 2+ million people into buying it every year. Enjoy your generic branded football, while I and other people enjoy and actually real game of football.

I've played ISS/Pro Evo for 15 years, am pretty damn good at it, but just can;t bring myself to keep 2009 in my PS3 for more than one game. I switch back to Fifa straight the way, as Pro Evo just seems to have gone backwards on the PS3...well... big step backwards (2008), slight step forwards (2009). I didn't plan on switching to Fifa as i've always thought it was shit, but 09 has drawn me in like a priest to a junior school.
