I have only been clicked into fifa for about 3 weeks and still doing stupid stuff like pressing R2 to make the player stop like in pes..!!! im going to give it a little longer before taking on the mighty trigglebeef..hehe

Thanks for saying so Ezio. I felt bad though because you were trying to knock it around nicely and i was punting a load of long balls up to Adebayor looking for flick ons (another thing i love about Fifa, you can use long balls as a plan B if the pure football isn't working). I've got to admit i was pretty proud of that Volley Ade scored though, probably about my best manual goal yet. If i had one bit of advice for you though it would be to close down a bit more by holding X. You gave me a bit too much time to pick my passes.
I'm definitely up for more games with you though mate, manual versus manual is the best football gaming experience yet. It was cool with game length set to 20 minutes too, because manual generally means less chances/goals.

im on semi mostly and manual for long balls, i stopped playing pes about a month ago and havnt thought once about playing it again..
the only time fifa annoys me is when i snap out of the timing physics and control methods and revert into pes ways...for me personally the more i play fifa the better it gets..
the other day i had my formations and tactics set up to play a certain style but i was trying to play another way, it just dosnt work like that its mad..i was getting frustrated and reverting back to pes style, but as soon as i change the custom tactics to how i wanted to play it all worked... the depth of fifa is amazing..!!

Custom tactics is a big thing. I have my defensive pressure real low to avoid being stung by through balls against teams with pacey strikers. When i play agaisnt a team with a big man up front (but no pace) i just go straight to very offensive in game to play higher up the pitch and protect against them scoring headers. When i play against Villa who have Agbonlahor and Heskey, i'm fucked. On manual i set pass length to the border of medium and long, organized build up, free form chance creation, very high crossing, shooting etc. Build up speed medium/fast. Takes a lot of tinkering but the more you play the more you feel the changes the make and you'll eventually get it spot on.

yeah, thats why its not really a pick up and play game...there are so many ways to change how the game flows its great..it means you really can play real football, take livepool v chelsea if its all set up right you can play it the same as it does in real life..!! depending how you've tweaked all the tactics it really changes the style of how each game is played..!!

It was a good game and the Ade goal was great. Although long balls to Ade isn't very Arsenal like
I keep changing something to semi offline but I guess I am really going to have at go a full manual offline too and get used to.

In fairness, this thread is supposed to be for people who don't like the game, but even if you don't, don't think that the PES fans are just going to sit back and say nothing if they think what you're saying is untrue. They have a right to reply.
The trouble is, sometimes, it gets to a stage when it's like two (or more, in this case) children arguing and being petty.
byondthought has already been dealt with for double posting, and others will be if the thread carries on like it has been. I'm writing this in advance, so don't be surprised to find yourself yellow carded if you feel another smart arse comment is what's needed.

I can't be here 24 hours a day. And frankly, you don't get stuff like this happening every day.
As for dicky's double posting (and all double posting in this thread), I will sort that soon enough. I dealt with yours straight away because it was brought to my attention. In the right way, via PM, might I add.

What I hate ..
Perfect defender syndrome - you take a shot. Defender blocks it.
You run at the defence. Defender casually pokes a toe out and nicks the ball.
You receive the ball. Defender clatters you off the ball.
And whenever I receive the ball, my player turns into a human jelly ball because if i get it chest high or even to feet, it always chuffin' bounces and bobbles and i can never get it under frikkin' control.
Perfect goalie syndrome ..
Played one game, crept in a the far post and got a bit of a bullet header in on goal - goalie saves it, but the rebound falls straight back to me.
I welly it back towards the goal almost instantly - goalie up off the floor to save it. again.
But then I could just be really rubbish at it in general

I still think the goalies push away too many balls that they should catch. It's not as bad as it was but it's still there and always right back to the attacker.

Yeah I agree with you about the defenders blocking all the time, its so frustrating!

what makes it worse for me in BAL mode is that I get so wound up I run after defenders and clump them off the ball .. I've been sent off inside 15 minutes in one game ...
Oh, and I hate the manager as well.
One game, I was basically playing Liverpool on my own - I set up two goals and scored another one to put us 3-0 up. I was setting up chance after chance as well and early in the second half, I scored my second to put us 4-0 up and i was bloody substituted !!!

Well I think they have gotten a little better when it come to parrying them startight back in front of goal but the keppers in Fifa are better IMO.
