I found the most annoying part of PES3...

No not the ungodly amount of cards...

But its the ungodly amount of time I have to spend chasing the computer running down the sideline then cut it back at the end line for a cross.

You can't tackle them...card
You can't hold x and get the ball from them...you just run next to them all day

so you just run next to them ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way down the field and hope to block their cross or win it in the air

wouldnt be bad if it happened a few times a game...but it happens EVERY TIME they get to the side

stupid

i swear i just played a game against ManU and thats ALL they did, amazingly RVN just appears at the spot for one of them when he was nowhere near there during the run...

the higher the difficulty i play this game the more glaring gameplay bugs plop right out and are right in front of your face...makes me think they QA this game at 1*

Totally agree, that can get very annoying. There needs to be another tackle button, more aggressive the a nudge with the shoulder but less aggressive than a full on side tackle.

I know exactly the kind of thing you're talking about there and there's loads of times where the defender would just need to stick out his boot to put the ball into touch. The problem is that a block tackle just tries to shove him off the ball which never works, and a slide tackle takes too long, by the time you've exucted the tackle the ball has moved and your player is being shown a red card.

I hope they sort this for PES4. A tackle where the player just goes to one knee and sticks his leg out...much quicker than a slide tackle but with less reach, that would sort the problem I think. Either that or just make the bloody shoulder barge actually do something.

I wonder who doesn`t hate that part..everyone does ..
If some of you remember back in the days when ISS98 was released you could`ve killed the guy to death and the ref won`t care..nor will he whistle a foul or anything so I guess KONAMI took this disciplinary thing to another level.. this should be improved though, in WE7:I that`s what the guy said who worked for KCNET/KONAMI ( read my thread about that interview )

wow by two threads on very similar subjects it seems to me that cad has just found out the only few reasons why pes3 didnt deserve a 10/10 rating

i dont know if its happened yet but wait until the handballs start flying left right and center  you're gonna love it

I like to pride myself on being able to make great sliding tackles with perfect timing. So I get ANGRY! when there is a foul for it or worse a card. And yes the handball is stoopid! If it happened now and then in defensive and attacking situations and sometimes it went for you as well as against (and you saw this in the replay) that would be cool. Also in PES2 you used to get the ref sometimes not getting offside decisions right... would have been nice for this to continue in PES3?

When the cpu player is sprinting down the wing, try switching your player with L1, and bringing a defender from the box to meet the winger. it beats chasing him, and usually ends up blocking the run/cross

a good idea for pes4 would be a new tackle...like pulling the shirt of the opponent!!for example the opponent is running down the wing and you are right next to him, at that time you could press :x: and pull is shirt!!of course it's a foul but better then getting goals from crosses :D

Not have them in the game! I don't see how they add to the game? I mean I have been in acres of space, on my own, and then been accused of handball! Why would any player do that?

heck they should only call them to prevent hand ball goals

like only call them inside the six or something

The odd hand ball goal is quite good tho! It's great to have the injustice of football come thru once in a while. Nothing like playing brilliantly for 89 and then the PS2 cheats its nuts off and wins 1-0!

its just the fact that it lies, many many times ive done replays where ive thought it was handball and the com has CLEARLY blocked shots off the line etc with their hands

and nothing given of course

pile of crap

also the fact that you cant replay the handballs when they are given against you, so you dont know whether theyre cheating or not

which they most likely are

that leads to the whole shoddy replay system as a whole though

any free kick or out of bounds, etc, cant be replay'd

they need a fifa style replay system

i think they did it on purpose though thats what im getting at

they purposely didnt want you replaying their handballs / advantages / yellow - red cards etc because they know theyre bullshit

all i knows is it pisses me off too much playing on 5* though i can win on it, so i just play on 4* where the cheating isnt as noticable

otherwise it just isnt fun for me anymore :(

anyways thatll do - great game yada yada yada :D

Tough to post to the problem of long sideline runs without coming over like a know-it-all, but I might have a half-decent solution... an obvious enough one, so maybe you're trying it... but here goes anyways.

As soon as the COM starts his run and you take after him you have two choices:-

1: Hold [] as you trail him and one of your MFs or SB/CBTs will come across to head him off; or

2: As you begin pursuit, hit L1 until a MF/SB/CBT is highlighted, often offscreen, and pull them up from the back (defender) or across (defensive MF) to intercept.

The second option is often frustrationg, coz as we all know, the logic behind PES3's manual player-selection is ludicrous at best... "Right - that's exactly the player I wanted - that guy 30 yds behind the play!"... but it is generally better for you team's shape if you can bring the defender up, leaving the MFs to track runners in the centre of the pitch ([] will usually activate the next-nearest P1 player, which is often the MF).

Done right (hoping to luck that the SB/CBT eventually gets selected), one should not imo jump in with the SB/CBT - his presence infront of the COM's wideman will force the run to be checked, at which point you can L1 back to your trailing SMF or MF. Stay on yer feet and you can make the COM play backwards -- KONAMI should introduce a homecrowd jeer for this, esp. if the attacking side is behind in the game ;)

This tactic works well for me as I've used 'postion-edit' in FORMATION to pull my defence up quite a bit to compress my shape, and, ensured my SBs (I actually play 3 at the back, so my wide CBTs) are NOT on 'HIGH' defence-mode... which will have them drop too deep and make them unselectable with L1 till the sideline run is almost complete.

Hope you find a way to take the edge off this niggle, MUTU... :)

Yeah I agree even if Carlos is chasing DB down his left wing, he would never catch up.

Anyway have you all noticed a trend in their (com) style?

They always run to the goal-line, turn back, then cross.

I know they do this all the time so I get to tackle them before they cross.
