I was playing an Xbox 360 console at Gamestation in Kirkcaldy earlier today. It was amazing! I played Kameo, Call of Duty 2 and King Kong. All three games were graphically stunning, truely next-gen. I was playing the console for about an hour and it simply blew me away. Has anyone else played one? If you have then what games did you play?

Yeah i have played one.
I played it at Game the other day. I played king kong and watched a few videos.
King Kong looked amazing i didnt get very far though but just walking around pushing the long grass to oneside as i walked through looked absoloutley brilliant.
The game certainly looks the part.

Im not that impressed

I played one in game and to be honest i did think the graphics were good don't get me wrong but i wouldn't say next gen. The playstation 3 is going to be about 3 times the power, perfomance, cells all that and i think when that comes out that will be next gen but i dont think xbox 360 can't be called next gen from call of duty and king kong because to me they looked like very good pc graphics.

you haven't got a clue mate, no-one has even seen actual ps3 in game footage yet as the graphics chip is'nt even made yet and if you dont think the xbox 360 graphics look incredible then you should have gone to specsavers!

Original?

Just remebmer that these are only the first games made for the console, and i think they look excelent, when the PS2 came out it was a while before they managed to use the full power of the system. In a years time maybe once developers have had more time with the console the games should look even better than they do now. Also i dont think that the playstion 3 will differ much in the terms of power, but if it is better than the Xbox 360 all the better for us gamers.

To be honest, stu1985p seems right.

From looking at in game screenshots, these 360 graphics just look like PC graphics, nothing more. Thats quite dissapointing.

MUFC THE RELIGION
Every game I have played on the 360 (Call of Duty 2, King Kong, Kameo) has been fantastic! Even if i dont like the genre of game such as kameo(to kiddish)but graphicly its amazing! Same with King Kong, even though I might buy this game as it looks great. But Call of Duty2 i dont need to say anything about this.

Played Perfect Dark, wasnt impressed.
Played PGR 3 and CoD2, was heavily impressed.

And It must be said, to run BF2 with such high settings you have to have a NASA computer.

Yeah but you dont see my point.

PS2 is gonna be next gen with top of the range graphics, beyond PC, It will also have some games Microsoft will not. Xbox is nothing more then a Gaming PC.
You might as well buy yourself a whole load of ram, xbox controller converter and the best graphics card around and just play the games on your computer.

What I am trying to get at is why spend all that money on the console and the high priced games when you can just upgrade your computer and do a hell of a lot more.

BS, the only real thing you need a ton of for BF2 is ram. 2GB of it to be exact. My AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice 1.8Ghz) which can be had with about $140 and my old 9800 pro could run it at max settings but with only 2xAA. Now my X800 is a different story as I can run full 6xAA without any problems.

I wouldnt call my Athlon64 3000 a NASA computer.

Thats funny as the PS3 will have nothing more than a PC-like GFX chip in it just like the xbox 360.
Xbox is nothing more then a Gaming PC
If you knew anything about the Cell or the Xenon, the two CPU's are almost the same(except for developers are now finding the SPE's on the Cell to be almost useless), since IBM made both. So what makes the PS3 different since it uses a powerPC variant just like the xbox 360 and uses a PC-like GFX chip, just like the 360.

You are right since the 360 has nothing more than a beefed up "Radeon x1800" and the PS3 has nothing more than a beefed up "Geforce 7800"

Couldnt they have both got the same one?

And how much would one of those cost if I wanted to insert it into my computer?

No, the R500 chip in the Xbox 360 is made by ATI.
The RSX chip in the PS3 is made by nvidia.

$400-500 for a 256MB version and $500-600 for a 512MB version. This is where console people start talking about how expensive it costs to play computer games but this next gen will be different. In order to really see the fine details on the xbox 360 and the PS3 you will need an HDTV, which is far from cheap. Without an HDTV you are still playing at a very low resolution, unlike the computer. So for a the so called "next-gen" consoles to compare to a computer, you better have the money to buy an HDTV.

What is a HDTV? something you install into the console?

or is it like a television called HDTV(unlikely but possible)?
