I play football at a pretty good level, and over the years have noticed one major thing :- People I know who are good at football in real life prefer Pro Evo to FIFA, and always will. I believe this is because if you have a vision of how the game should be played, or want to try things you know are possible on the field of play, Pro Evo gives you the scope to try it. FIFA is a game for Footballers who can only dream of getting a taste of what real football is like, hence they love all of the shiny presentation and the feel of playing in an official game on TV.

I know for a fact that the better player prefers Pro, so you will always have a divide between the two camps, with the majority going for FIFA these days due to the fact that most people are not any good at the real thing. So to all the good players out there, hope you enjoy PES 2010, and lets not worry about all the FIFA business because we are in the minority, but we get to play and appreciate the best Football game out there.

Finally, for all of you who do not understand what I'm trying to say:- Keep playing FIFA, You're just proving my point even more !!!

But what is a good level ? Good compared to pros or to the random dude who plays football every week end with friends just for fun ?

When I was 17 I played in the 6th french league which is the last league before the "serious" stuff. The 4th and 5th leagues being mostly composed of young players whose intent is to become professionals. They have a semi-professional status as they play international competitions.

Enough boring history. Now let me know what you meant ? Because while I have always agreed with and witnessed what you're saying, I know for a fact that many pros play FIFA on a daily basis, something you would never have seen 3 years ago.

Of course the "smart" players like Henry stick to PES but still.. it raises a question.

Do you really need to be good at football or have a good football brain ?

Darren Bent often plays FIFA online, and I'd consider him good enough to play for England. But meh, my opinion. I know where you're coming from, but the bottom line is this, FIFA and PES both appeal to players for certain reasons. If you're happy playing PES, good on you, go for it. Same applies to FIFA, play what you like, not for some loyalty to the company, or because you think it's the 'cooler' game to play.

Just gonna end this comment with one thing though, now that PES' graphics are better than FIFA's (or so I think), it's gonna be pretty difficult for people to pull out the 'you play FIFA because of it's graphics' card.

Spot on. After seeing a short documentary about the french national team the other day, I had the chance to see most young players were playing Fifa and olders were playing PES.

And what I wanted to say in my previous post is that maybe not every pro want to play a football game really seriously, start a career, learn and understand every single aspect of the gameplay, be competitive online etc.. they just wanna have fun. Because the realism we're wishing for in our game, they get several days a week in their professional life.

But where we can all agree on, is, that a good football player will always be better at PES than a bad player. At least for ball possession.

Think you've just shot yourself on the foot there.

To explain, anyone can run past a whole team with Messi!! I'm positive he would get hammered if he was made to go Anderlecht, who he's probably never heard of, hence won't know a single player and can't rely on untouchable Messi & Eto'o to run and out muscle the whole opposing team until he gets to the by line and then cut it back for Henry/Messi to tap into an open goal.

Sounds like a typical clueless Barcafag. Doesn't know anything about football so just goes the best team in the game. This just proves the OP's point further haha.

That's a valid point mate, a very valid point!

Up until this year that is anyway. I never thought I would enjoy Fifa! But this year I just can't put up with the PES animations anymore, it makes me cringe.

Such a sad day :(

Saying that, I still play PES 6 more than anything, hopefully next year they will get those animations sorted out, and that ball sound......... What are they? Kicking a boulder with a cushion?

^ I agree on the ball sound :) It's been like this since iss pro. But then again - i don't really care about these things. Sad to hear that fifa has made you join the dark side mate :(

completely agree and it's what i've been saying for a while now but as you've said only the ones who play the real game will understand what you mean.
as COOLIO ones said in his song "see you when you get there".
so if they ever get there they will appreciate PES and finally understand what we mean.

you know nothing for a fact, dont go talking on behalf of everybody who is good at football. i understanding what you are saying its just pointless non sense dribble. oh and playing football and sunday league level is not playing football at a good level, if you truly was playing at anything above an average level i doubt you would have had the audacity to take time from your schedule to make this thread.

i dont care if somebody prefers PES or FIFA but dribble like this unfounded.

my dad was a professional with APOEL nicosia and won the league and cup and went on to be head scout for the north east for man city , my brother was a professional with carlisle utd for 2 years and even though I wasnt blessed with the skills on the pitch I believe I can read a game well and have spent my whole life watching the beautiful game and being taught how to watch football and read players. I would pick PES every day of the week
