IGN SEABASS interview: Next-gen games to be ports from PC (sort of)

In an interview on IGN today SEABASS gives out some info that should clear alot of things up about 360 version of PES and next-gen PES in general. Aswell as aquiring more licences, 360 controller difficulties, and PES6 improvements and so on. One particular quote in terms of next-gen which should clear things up is this:

"In the past we focused on the PS2 version of PES first but with the switch to next-gen everything is now led on PC and then moved across onto Xbox 360 and PS3, so the formats are now treated very equally."

So I guess this next-gen they will be 'ports' from the PC. Your thoughts on this, and other aspects from the interview.

It’s the way games should be done considering that the PC can still out perform any console.

Only because the technical specs of the PES3 are better than the 360. So to treat them equally means Microsoft won't be shown up.

You SO misunderstood this buddy.

The question was:
Which format is leading the development?

So what he said and what he meant was: PS2 format led the development in the past, then they moved the development onto PC, but now they start developing more for 360 and PS3... So overall, they treat all their formats equally.

What that means is totally opposite of what you said... It means that EACH format is treated equally - or in the other words, they do not develop for PS2 anymore, then port to PC and other consoles but DEVELOP for EACH FORMAT!!!

I know, thats why I said 'sort of'. He obviously says in the interview they will be treated equally, just that some people thought PS3 would lead the production like the PS2 did in the past.

Hi Milosh, nice to see you again :)
I know exactly what you mean.
I read and re-read Seabass' answer and I cannot agree with you, although the fact English is not my primary language can be the reason for that.
The way I read it, is as one sentence "with the switch to next-gen everything is now led on PC and then moved across onto Xbox 360 and PS3"
In my opinion it means that the PC is for the next-gen the basis and depending on which console is used they will make restrictions/improvements.
That part started with "and then it moved acros to the Xbox 360 and PS3" it will point to the method they use to make it, so what the sequence is.

Yes indeed, good to see you too, again :)... Long time no hear. How's NL treating you?

I'm pretty sure that this is a misunderstanding... First of all, Seabass' English is not that great... I heared him talking at E3 and he's struggling...

I agree with you that you can, in some way, argue what you are arguing, however, taking other points from that interview coupled with the facts about development for next-gen consoles, I find it too hard to believe that someone would develop the game on a PC, then port it to 360/PS3 BUT then publish PS2 port as a PC version. What's the point of doing it this way?

Konami also stated that they have been working on this version for more than 12 months, and they had 360 development kit from day one so I really find it hard to believe that they would do things this way...

Well, in that case I think Seabass need a new translator :)
The point in your interpretation, which made it hard to believe was because in his text there is an unclear point WHEN the PC was used as next-gen basis...
There was no period in the past it ever was and still in Seabass text it is mentioned... That's why I thought it is now the case, can you follow me? :D
Whatever, let the man learn speak English properly, than we don't have misunderstandings :D
Maybe he causes confusion on purpose :D
