i'm Mat from Cannock, i'm 18 and support United.

how do you know Jag87 is a glory fan???? although he is probably a little young to be from before glory period!

like i said, i support Man U, i live in staffordshire, i support them just cos i always have, i'm 18 and have supported them since the start of the year they finished 2nd to leeds ironically. (year before premiership started, 91/92 i think)

at that point we hadn't won the league in 26 YEARS! i support them cos my dad always had a soft spot for them since Munich air disaster. it just rubbed off on me, i've only seen them play 3 times. but only because it's hard to get there!

once i can drive i'll go more often!

so does me living so far away make me a glory fan???
even though i was born in Liverpool's glory period and Man U's drought and still supported United?

Well, im glad you called yourself a fan and not a supporter.
You maybe a fan, but you cant call yourself a supporter, you arnt there, giving the lads your support, your probably at home with the 98% of man utd fans, wathcing it on teletext. Support is when your there and 3 times in 18 years is disgraceful. Im 17 and been there 7 times, im from leicester. It isnt hard to jump on a train, but ill leave you to it, your dad supported them? Ive heard that from the other fans, everyone who 'supports' united seems to have a link to them somehow, i aint saying your a lier but why dont everyone have a link with leicester, strange....

from the age of 7-16 i played football for Cannock, we trained saturdays and i never missed a session without the illness having an estimated amount of time to live of less than 24 hours!!! on a wednesday night after school or work i could hardly get there and back by myself as a youngster!!!!

i AM a FAN! my stomach Churns when we're losing, i cant control my happiness when we win, i'm gutted when we're in a bad patch, i spend 16hrs a day thinking about my team and 8hrs sleeping, in which i dream about my team, i didn't say my dad supported them, i said he "had a soft spot for them" it would have cost me about £50+ a time to get there and watch a match!

and watching three matches is three more than a lot of United fans, AND YOU KNOW IT!!!!! at least i live in the same country!

if i could go back 15 or 16 years, i would go back, support United exactly the same, but win the lottery so i could afford the £2500 a year it would cost to watch the 50+ games each year just to make you happy!

i've got nothing against you, but you know nothing about me so dont pre judge!

Ok then, well i will support Man Utd aswel now then, all i got to say is my dad has a soft patch for them, and i cant afford to make it. It dont work like that. Its people like you that make little kids look up to you and follow man utd to just because they win. If everyone in the UK was like you, football wouldnt be around in england, there would be nobody to follow everyone else, just 6 million man utd fans. The idea was you support your nearest team so you can make it to games and cheer them on, not choose somewhere so far away that you can afford to go to. Theres no excuse, your a glory supporter like the rest.

if his dad was into man united, then u cant really blame him, cos thats how most lads get into football.

u say its people like mat who make kids look up to him and support man united, but he got it from his dad, so maybe u should speak to mats dad, lol.

just a thought, i havent got a problem with either of u, just trying 2 calm things down :D

Screw you dickhead! and any way, like i've said quite a few times i was really really young. so wouldn't it have been worse for me to support them for 4 or 5 years then when i was old enough to know better change teams??? that would've been stupid!!!

and anyway, as i couldn't possibly afford to go to matches week in week out for the team i support, i do try to watch teams in my local area like Villa and Hednesford when i can!

But i've always supported Man United and even if they are playing hednesford in the Dr.Martins league in 10 years time i'll still support them, i dont, haven't and wont ever make other people support Man U. i just want people to respect the fact I, Me, No one else supports them. and if you dont like it, i'll STILL SUPPORT THEM!

so because i had no money that means i dont support my team properly? you got something against less wealthy people???

now i have a job and have a little more capability, i'll probably watch loads more games!

and anyway, the whole thing started with me saying I AM NOT A GLORY FAN! and even if i dont support a local team, and you cant accept that, all i originally wanted to say was I DONT SUPPORT THEM COS THEY WIN THINGS! I supported them before there Midas touch was aquired

cheers Ash.

now i've got that off my chest.
it may be true that i should have supported a local team. but like i said, when i was 10, i had supported United for FIVE years!

most 10 year olds dont support footy teams for the right reasons, so what would you expect from a five year old? but like i siad, wouldn't changing teams after 5 or 10 years have been stupid????

i respect your a leicester fan, you should respect that i'm a United fan. and when you said there would just be 6 million united fans in the uk if everyone was like me. where did the other 25-30 million footy fans go??? catch the plague?????

like i said, i STILL dont have anything against you, even after the unprovoked attack on myself, and the amount of money i have,

i hope we can put this ugliness behind us, and have civilised chatter in the future.

what do you say?

i have always had a soft spot for woking, but cos nobody really knows of them, nobody wud make a point out of me liking them.

im hardly a glory supporter, they are shit! the point of liking a team is that YOU like them, doesnt matter where they are from, or how soft the reason is for liking them. my dad liked villa when he was a kid because he liked the kit, thats how it goes.

cant we all just be fwends :D

You have nothing against me yet you use foul language calling me a 'dickhead' your the one that has started the abuse. I have and always will hate manchester united, because of there glory supporters, and like you they all have a 'decent reason' to 'support them'. Half of japan claim to support manchester united, they dont support them, im 17 and had a leicester season ticket for 13 years, yes i got my first one at the age of 4.
So what your saying is everyone who had a soft spot for man utd airoplane crash, should bring there children up to be a man utd fan?
My dad had a soft spot for them like most of the country, doesnt mean that everyone who had a soft spot for them should bring there children up to support them, otherwise the whole generation would support man utd.
Im sorry that you were brought up into this, and its not your fault.
Not once did i dig at you about your money problems, you could be wankovich with millions or a big issue seller with nothing, i never ever judge a person by there fiances.
I love football so much i couldnt follow man utd, they are money grabbing bastards and i want to watch football week in week out, ive missed 3 leicester matches in 6 years home and away. I am a loyal supporter. I dont want to fall out with you, because in the last week that ive joined, ive settled in very well and made alot of new friends. Enemies is the last thing i want to make, and i to want to put this behind me. I just get pissed off with half of the world supporting man utd because of there glory. Oh well, none of my buisness, guess ill just have to shut up and let everyone get on with it. But theres one thing for sure, if old trafford burnt down tommorow i would have a soft spot for them (kind of :D) but would never ever let my kids support them.
Sorry for everything and hope we can get along now. :)

i think man u are bastards, i hate them and their snotty nosed manager, their players and especially that horse that wears number 10, but it doesnt matter cos most people on here think leeds are dirty bastards and want them to go down, u just have to ignore it and get on with it :) its just banter.

ive seen a lot of inteligent posts from both of ya so its good 2 see u sorting it out.

respect :D
