I'm gonna puke

I was just wondering if anyone has the same problem as me while playing computer games, the problem is that whenever i play certain games i feel a bit sleepy get a headache then eventually get to the point of almost puking and have to stop playing the game and have a rest.

This seems to only happen whilst playing certain games, which are at the moment Medal of Honour (frontline & rising sun fr ps2), Driv3r (ps2) and GTA 3 and Vice City(GTA is not as bad as previous games).

Could anyone please tell me why this is, if they suffer from the same thing, is their a cure for it or am i just a freak

I get really annoyed when i play for too long. I get headach's but the must annoying thing is my finger's. They get really sore and go all red and my wristd get tired as well. But ive never felt like i need to puke.

I think i do but not all the time just when i feel like it

Went on a coach today actually and felt like i was gonna hurl, so got off the bus at Great Yarmouth pleasure beach and went on loads of fast rides and a roller coaster then had Harry Ramsdens chips and chicken burger as well as coke and ice cream then went on waltzers and one of those rides where you sit in a row about 50 ft. in the air and are dropped to the floor and have an orgasm in the process and i didn't even puke, how dissapointing.

I think you could be right, it probably is the motions because pes3 doesn't make me feel sick (thank God) and neither do other games with little motion on the screen, its just really annoying that ive spent so much money on these game and i havent even got past the first level on either medal of honours or driv3r, maybe i should try those travel sickness tablets.

Its funny that i can go on rides like oblivion, nemisis, samurai and all the big ones in florida and not feel sick but then get on a coach and want to throw up

I suffer from carsickness but nothing else .... strange

I'd try sitting further from the screen....just a thought? I obviously havnt taken a peep through your window and checked (yet) but I think if you sat further back it'd be better.....maybe

I get a bit ill from playing Timesplitters 2. I was sitting about 2-3 metres away from the TV and played it for about 45 minutes. Then I had to go lie down. Games similar to that sometimes do the same thing. But Return To Castle Wolfenstein is that kind of game and I remember playing it for hours and hours (and until 6am :p) and had no problems there.

Glad that I can play PES3 for many hours without any problems!

I've never had any ill effects from playing my PS2 for lengthy amounts

I always make sure I don't sit in the same position for too long. I saw a story on the news about a boy who suffered deep vein thrombosis, after sitting in the same kneeled position for 4 hours whilst on his PS2

axually, it is advised that for every hour of gaming, we should take a 15 minute break. have anyone tried that?

That's been around for ages, they reckon the same for every hour you spend just doing nothing on the PC too - why I'd need a 15min break is beyond me but whatever, sometimes if after maybe 2 hours i start to get blurry i'll just go get a drink or something and im fine

maybe coz if u stare at the tv or the pc monitor too long it affects ur eyes and brain. axually from my experience, if i play for long long hours my eyes start to get twitchy. i hate that feeling

I have this sickness with 'most 1st person shoota' Unreal Champ.... or whateva its called for the x-box is ok, but when i play it on the pc the newer versions they seem to make me puke within 15 mins. Its the fact that theres more things happening on the screen. On the x-box version 'unreal championship' it doesnt run as smooth and it cant handle ALL the movement which causes slow down. If theres slowdown then it isnt running as fast which means your head dosent have to react as much. To prevent these things do the following:

* Take motion sickness tablets before playin any pc/console games
* Keep playin the same game eg 'Far Cry' and after a while you will get used to amount of action and movement. After playin for over 2 hours in total; it wont effect you as much. Not only will it help you ALOT with the 1 game which you were playin but it will help you A LITTLE with others. ;)

Hope it helps. Ive nearly completed Far Cry now :D

I think sitting further back would help a little but the problem is that my bedroom is the size of a cardboard box so even though i'm sitting as far away as i can its still only about 2 metres away, maybe i should start playing downstairs but then I'd have to keep moving the PS2 up and down the stairs when ever eastenders or whatever my mum/sis watches is on. I could just leave home :D

Thx for the ideas, I'll definetely try the tablets out then hopefully I'll get used to it and not have to take them. :D
