Zyg, if you're having trouble with the lot, why not just IP ban? It's harsh but the most effective way to get rid of these incessant spammers.

I'm new to all this and haven't yet found the option to do that. They were using the same IP last night but overall there have been about 8 different IPs used. Probably due to them being in cafés or something.

Once someone is banned, they are not supposed to just return using a new user name. Go away if you don't want the original ban extended even further. If you come back, the ban could become permanent.
