So I was playing the PC demo of PES5, trying to get Fabregas sent off to see if there was any new cut scenes for red cards. He was already on a yellow, and went right through the back of Drogba, but the ref waved play on, and when the ball went out of play he gave him his second yellow, and a red. This only ever happened to me once in PES4, and it was only for a yellow. I must say well done Konami, as this is one of the things that really pissed me off with the last PES.

This also leads me to something me and my dad discussed years ago. If this was to happen in real life, say a booked player committed a second bookable offence and the ref played advantage, the ball didn't go out of play and this player ended up scoring, then getting sent off. Not much of an advantage to the opposing team is it!? Anyone ever seen this happen in real life?

He wouldn't score though, because if he commited the foul then all advantage would be for the opposing side, meaning that the team he's playing for wouldn't have the ball, and thus, he cannot score.

Yeh, but the referee wouldn't stop play till the ball goes out, not when the team with the advantage loses possession.

They use discretion a bit more now. Kind of like rugby. The referee can let play continue for a few seconds to see if theer is an advantage. If there isnt they go back to the foul. Whereas if there is an advantage he lets play continue - if the player then won the ball back and went on to score that isnt the referees fault but the team that would have had the feree kick - they blew their advantage.

Perhaps taking the rugby example a bit further would be better - play could continue until the side that are supposed to get the advantage continue until they lose the ball

dunno what to say, the refs are better in pes5, but not much difference from we9. the refs are still too annoying using the whistle when it comes to shoulder challenges, but not if the cpu does the same to you. i guess this game is now primarily designed for player vs player gaming, which is a good thing all in all.

They are alot better yeah. Just simple things like actually the ref pointing which way a free kick or throw has gone, picked up on alot of small things that make a difference.

If you play a cup or league game instead of an Exhibition game the referees are even better and lets play continue and tend to give cards away a lot more than in friendlys.

the game sounds great, heard a few complaints bout the refs being too strict, but we've all seen refs like that in real football so in a way it makes sense! and sometimes i quite like to have the ref picking on your team, makes it more of a challenge and more rewarding when you win because it feels like a double win, one against you opponenent and one against the ref!

that would be nice.. been playing we9 for some time, referees are piss offs. they're not really like that in real life. hopefully pro evo 5 done the job.
