Hey lads!

Before i start let me say i have ALWAYS been a pes fan

Ok so i got pes4 yesterday i have the ps2 and x-box but i thought id get practice in before i get the x-box version for live..so i stuck it in the ps2..started it up..normal kinda intro plays..im getting pretty pumped..press start new look interfaces..thought yea pretty cool..

So i went to a match..england vs iran to just get started...set my formations up etc..just wanted to play!..the intros to the match where fairly decent..

So i was ready..i kicked off...and i thought hmmm speed seems abit too fast for my taste..but i thought ah ill ignore it..so i have the ball but i aint spriting with it..and the animation of a player with the ball when not running is truely strange..espeically when they turn..there legs go double speed..and it isnt rather good to look at..so im playing and i cant help but notice it..and the speed factor is getting a touch annoying aswell

I also felt the graphics where not as colourful as pes3..sometimes they feel a little too dull..and some stadiums espeically the ground with the lines on the pitch..the ball is very hard to see

Then also a annoying thing..was the slowdown in the area..now its not that bad in 50hz mode..but 60hz mode it is just a utter joke..you have to think why did konami even bother including this option if its barely playable?..hell id have settled with the so called stutter bug in pes3 then this joke of slowdown in 60hz mode..and 60hz mode ive always played cuz it makes the game look better imo..but i cant play it in this version...DO konami even have testers for this game?

So i play some more games..and im trying to ignore them factors but they are kinda impossible to ignore..now people may go ah your being picky etc..but come on lads this is rather strange dont you think?..they had the speed and the animation when not running fine on pes3 but somehow its totally gone to pot in this version

So i keep playing with various teams..and the good things appear..passing..shooting etc all seem good..midfielders getting into runs etc that pleased me..the new options for created players where great..making them take pens differently etc..was a good introduction..the new league options where good aswell..the new revamped master league is also good...OVERALL the gameplay is still highly good

Overall its another decent addition to the series..and there have been many improvements..but i just have to feel disappointed with this edition..it seems konami make great improvements but they also lack on the testing side of things..THEY always seem to have something in it that stops it being almost perfect..last year 65% of the pes3 game was plagued with the stutter bug..but apart from that imo i feel pes3 is actually better then pes4..the issues in pes4 i have highlighted just really mess it up for me..

Dont get me wrong..it still is better then fifa...because with fifa you expect the fuck ups EA do..but with konami you dont..but recent years we are getting abit of lazyness from konami with certain issues..and it does worry me...will we start seeing instead of fifa getting 8 outta 10..or 80%..and pes getting 9/10s outta 10..or 94%..are we gonna see fifa getting closer and closer..because of konami's inept lazyness to test games?...

SURELY these game mags and net reviewers see the slowdown/stutter..the strange running?..but they continue to rate it 10 outta 10..etc..isnt this frauding us?

Now while im going on..id like to ask someone what the official release date is for the x-box version..also is there any improvements?...ive hard conflicting reports all over the net..saying "its the same just a port"...."it has better graphics and more animations"..but does anyone here have HARD concrete proof?

Anywho lads..please read what i say carefully..i aint picking on it etc..im just saying my full opinion on it

bloody long post, but i agree with you, the gameplay is a bit too fast. saying that, i would choose pes4 over pes3 anyday. i think it will take time to get to grips with it but this happened last year but soon everyone loved it. just keep on playin it and you will soon start enjoying it.!

There's stille no official releasedate for the Xbox version....just november. I haven't played it myself, but the word on the street is that there is NO slowdown in the Xbox version. Personally i am getting the XBox version because of the online play....think it's gonna be absolutely awesome.

Agree with most thing ya said, the keeepers are awful as well. Stick with though it will come good, keep the faith.

Yea im getting it for online..that will be really good...even with fifa 05..offline sucks..but playing that online is pretty fun even with EA'S dodgy servers..so im sure pes4 online will be a great expreience

I don't agree with you.
The gameplay is the best in the series, the increased speed isn't even that noticeable. Although the longshots do sometimes seem impossible, but realistically you don't see players score longshots for breakfast .

I'm baffled at the fact you questioned PES4 being a 10 or 9/10. It's the best game I have played on the playstation 2. And I probably speak for over 50% of members on this site.

I will definetly be offering you a good 5star on Xbox Live .

That is true, there is no slowdown and the game speed is perfect on the xbox version. The only problem with it is getting used to playing with a new controller but im likely to get an xbox to ps2 adaptor to fix that problem.
7Ronaldo is right with what he posted earlier in this thread, once you get the hang of the game you will like it a whole lot more, its a definite improvement on pes3.

If you actually look tho i didnt question it being a 9 or 10 game..i questioned the fact that konami are lazy in there testing of the games..i would give this 9..if fifa gets 8..this deserves 9..if it had been tested on more and somethings sorted out..it would of got 9.5 hell maybe even the full 10 outta me..

i read on the forums there is one called a dreambox, they cost around £10 so its very reasonable IMO considering how more of an enjoyable experience it should be going back to the experienced ps2 pad.

Well with me..it was almost unplayable...in the area and other parts of the pitch it slowed down to incredible lengths

is one of these penaltys that chip penalty that totti did a few weeks ago (but it was saved)? thats what i was told!
