No its not broken first u make sure ur team control setting are on manual.
Because if its not u can only make ur player run in straight lines.
Then just use button's as instructed in the intro movie.
point right stick to the player u want to control then press it.

It's annoying though because you have to keep the analogue stick held in the direction you want the player to run the whole time or he stops running. Incredibly hard to do whilst concentrating on dribbling, passing etc at the same time.

+1
not easy or practical most of the time especially when you're under pressure

I haven't played the demo, but I was thinking about that; I mean, how do you direct the right analog stick and at the same time press the passing button? Sounds rather impossible or should I say uncomfortable....

I cannot see myself directing the right analog stick and at the same time using my right hand in order to press the passing button. It would be cool if the pressure sensitive L2 determined the actual movement, so that if you release the L2 button the player stops running, if you press the L2 button the player starts running towards the given direction.

I wonder why Konami couldn't come up with a system that's easier or more comfortable to use. Hopefully, it is easier or more comfortable than I imagine.

Hence use the straight line setting.

Tbh it should be used sparingly. As should the manual player selection controls whilst defending. The AI should be doing these things adequately without having to resort to the R3 stick...

I dont think its broken but its weird lol..... When I have it on manual and make my off ball player move around he moves wehere I tell him to go but when I release the stick he tends to stop... Shouldn't he keep running?

I agree, you need to "pick your spots" so to say with these options or you will go crazy and lose focus on the acual game... the off ball runs with the stick should be used mostly on counter attacks to free up space and spread the field IMO. The defender switching when being pressured on a break to switch to a defender further back .

haha ya it does seem hard, and honestly its very hard for me at least, not the button issue but telling one player to move one way, and another to move a different way while still trying to manouver around the defense.... I don't think our brains are wired to perform such tasks

R3 and L3 are the most difficult buttons to use.... especially if you have to coordinate that with the general direction of the stick...

For example, when I press R3, i always tend to do so, while pushing the stick slightly down... that screws up the all movement.

Not really, the AI cannot read my mind and decide that I want Player X to move from Point A to Point B; I disagree with you, you are being blatantly simplistic with your conclusion.

I agree, it is rather impossible to direct the right analog stick and simultaneously press the passing button.... I think Konami should fix that prior to release, it is a very obvious flaw.

I wonder why the fuck can't Konami just use the L2 button in order to determine the actual movement?

It could be as simple as this (1st) direct the right analog stick in order to indicate a direction of movement, and after indicating the direction of movement quickly release the right analog stick (2nd) press the L2 button in order to move the player in accordance to the preset direction.

It takes some getting use to, I use the straight line option with I can set off in a second with a simple directional move and click of the R3 button. However I do use the option moderately, and never use it on my forwards only on my side backs and wingers.

I think it works great. Maybe to effective in my opinion.

You can point the R3 button towards the player that you want to make a run (yes i know it's difficult, and yes sometimes the wrong player will make a run but give it some time)

When i let go of the R3 the player continues his run, so the so called "flaw" is not everybodys opinion. Then i wait for the right time to execute the long pass (or don't - in order to confuse their defence)

It will be great once you learn to master this feature guys
