Is Superstar the best difficulty to play at?

So far ive played like 5 matches on it and it feels the most balanced and satisfying to play at.

From what I tested it feels like :

Pro - a big joke how easy it is, the defences are completely out of position and unaware of anything, very easy and pretty much impossible to lose on unless your just making some big mistakes or are extremely unlucky.

Top Player - very very weird feeling, sometimes it feels decent enough, sometimes it feels the AI is just cheating, light players showing you off the ball when your controlling some really tough guy like Drogba, the AI dribbling unrealisticaly with perfect timing and angles and it feels scripted tbh.

Superstar - it feels similar to TP but without the cheating or scripting, it just feels balanced and the best overall, I enjoyed playing all the 5 matches so far on this difficulty.

I like how you find Pro easy, I play on Pro and find it really hard, maybe that's because i'm on default ML, I haven't really tried using a great team on Pro, although i did play a few Exhibitions on TP, which I found ok, win some draw some with Man Utd.

My 1 gripe I have with Pro is I seem to have the ball a lot but still fail to win many matches, but again this might be because of my poor team.

Superstar I haven't played yet, but by what you have said it seems to be TP, without the scripting, maybe I should give TP a complete bypass and go straight to Superstar once my team is good enough.

I say superstar, started playing like this the same day I got the game after getting enough points by playing cups, although it is the hardest, I have always started every single game in the hardest level, I think that my learning curve this way is shorter.

wow so basically the ai don't cheat in ml in the last 10 mins unlike top player. If this is so i think i've found the answer to my problems!

I don't believe you eventhough i wanna

Yeah it seems so, alltho I haven't tested it throughout yet, but as of now it seems like the cheating and scripting is non existant or very subtle.

The only annoyance I do have with superstar ( but this also goes for TP ) is that the AI can skip past your defender with ease and u can't do anything about it.

And its not even Messi its every single player just because the AI has perfect timing and angle based on what you do every single time.

It can be avoided by double teaming or backing up but srsly... why should I do that for every average technique slow running clumsy player in every weak club..

Its that Burst Speed thingie almost every time too.. I wish they never added it

i hate speed burst - i can't use it as i don't know wihch buttons to use, if i did i could get past the cpu.
Also putting better pressing and compactness with a low defensive line and putting your cb's really back and putting a sweeper should help you defend better

I have recently played Superstar and never went to top player because top player was full of cheats. On superstar, I do not get mad when I loose because USUALLY, it would be my fault. I said usually, because it does cheat sometimes.

After the patch, it seems like the AI pressures you more. Not much, but more than before which is a good thing.

How do you find pro so easy. I beat AI only by not conceding goals because scoring a goal is very hard. Through balls or lob through balls get intercepted, defenders outrun attackers etc. Yet I can have massive possession level. I am in 3d place in ML after 10 games, but I scored 9 and conceded 6 goals, while teams near me in the table have double of these numbers like 20 scored 10 conceded. While I can deal with cpu pressure and even score goals time to time I find it is not realistic flow of the game and to many games with 1 or 0 goals in a game. Do you play on pc? What do you do to score goals? What is the fricken secret?

using feints and drribbles to get past players or keeping the ball in midfield until you see gasps or manually controlling a 2nd player which is deadly after you have mastered it. Another good thing is use r2 crosses from the rings or double tap cross. Even cut backs are useful

Hmm interesting guys. Pro is pee easy now, I can beat Man Utd easily 3-0, 4-0 if I put my mind to it. I have to say too, that I'm starting to get very good on Top Player, so I'm sorely tempted to switch to Superstar to try it. @MysteryMan, is it tougher like they keep possession and pass the ball about better or what?

I'm using an old sidewinder gamepad, with no analog sticks, so can't use my teammates like I would like, that makes me struggle a lot on Pro. Because of this I have to keep passing the ball around (Barca style) untill some hole opens, with some luck I can get to score. Have managed to defend decently enough to have a good challenging match against the AI.

Looks like everyone is scoring shit load of goals on professional. can anyone show me a game vidoe where they (or someone) beat a top team 3:0 or above with an average team? I also found there are little differences between top player and professional in AI defense. Only cpu attack is better.
Are you all guys on PS3? Looks like PC is tougher for some reason.

I struggle like fuck on professional. Never get hammered just have problems scoring goals. usually a 1-0 if i do win. Always seems even harder if you take the lead. The Ai goes into BASTARD MODE

lol "BASTARD MODE". That's so true, you can dominate a game for 80 mins creating chance after chance, then all your efforts pay off in 1 move to put you 1-0 up and the CPU beats the shit out of your defence for the last 10 mins. I have had quite a few games like that, thinking "I've scored too early" Good feeling if you hold on though.

Ive lost count of the number of games ive dominated and not won. Im frightened of scoring first lol. Last night i was leading 2-0 twice and drew 2-2 and lost the other 4-2, I was a broken man!

I play on pc.

I use posession football to pass the ball around and draw them out, then usually I use quick passing and 1-2's to get the ball into their box and have a good opening for a shot.
On professional the AI is very weak and the defenders are all over the place with no organization, its very easy to outplay them and use tons of space they leave open to your advantage.

I prolly played like 20-30 matches on pro and I lost 1 and drew 1 and thats because I made stupid mistakes and was unlucky. Most of the other matches I won by quite alot.

Thanks. Hmm that is encouraging! I do not use 1-2s may be this is the key to my problem. I also play possession and try to time through ball or lob through bal,l but it is almost always intercepted or the runner gets the ball but after a few steps pushed off the ball. I score most goals from headers in the end. One more question though, do you play version 1.0.1 konami update?

I beg to the good Lord that what you say is true!! :thewave:

I'm still stuck with the demo (can't wait for Friday!), but I noticed that if you play on Top Player at -2 speed the AI is less prone to piss you off...perhaps because it's not so God damn lightning fast

The same thing happens to me in Pro. I play in PC. I can dominate the entire game possession of 65%. I score a goal and then their team all become messi and score in less than 2 min. heheh "bastard mode", I like that. That sucks because Regular is a bit too easy but Pro would be good without bastard mode....
