Is there a knack to scoring one on ones.

R2 is an absolute must when 1 on 1....

I'm not the best PES player lol but I never use R2, I find that its more about timing.

If you let it off at the moment the keeper starts coming off his line and you don't hit it straight at him, its guaranteed to go in. Basically as he's starting to come forward his ability to go sideways is greatly reduced but you have to time it so that you hit your shot before he gets close enough to actually smother it.

fake a shot and go around the keeper or if you have pace, run around the keeper :)
if you are playing in exibition and with messi/silva then you can do a maradonna twist around the keeper which works really well.
(^ I think they are the only two that can do the special maradonna twist)

Whats the easiest way of faking a shot while running in the box - with space so tight, I usually loose control and mistime ot mishit the shot.

running around the keeper is the most crap way of scoring i get noobs like this every game and it need to be improved you don't see this in real life do you.

Erm...yes.

I use R2 to place the ball, the GK usually leaves a gap at one side, put it there.

yep, i just bang it when the keeper starts to run towards me. it's about pace and timing though. you want to sprint dash right up until right before the box and then dribble once normal to throw off the keeper and then you can basically just roll the ball past him with just a tap of the shot button.
