Issues with passing

Hi everybody I'm new here so I'm sorry for doing something wrong.

I have been lurking a bit after the demo came onto PSN+ and I've been hearing wonderful things about the passing and how amazing and how much freedom it gives you. Ofcourse, this made me very excited to try out the new passing in PES11.

Unforunately, the passing in the demo is one of the main gripes i have in the game. Its very restricted. If I choose a light pass slight in front of a player below me, it will instead fire a pass to a player far out in the direction I slightly aimed in. This is not a one time but very frustrating.

Another thing I found with the passing is that the players do not want a touch of a ball. I'll lightly tap the pass button but the player I chose to pass it to is more than happy to dummy the pass to another player.

Awkward, I ran out of space.

Another issue I have is that the through ball pass are very incosistent. One day I'll tap it and it will fly off while another time it will just lightly go nowhere. I think this might be because the meter is too sensitive.

Well I'll leave it at that. I have played over 15 matches before making this thread and will continue to play as I love the demo but I might be going with fifa 11 :( However I do not like the link feints as I like to freely do my skills (I had fifa 10) but I will not go into detail about that :D

Thanks

The passing does take a bit of getting used to. But I personally love the passing in 2011. It gives you so much freedom. Can't say I've experienced the problems you have stated. It may be to do with how long you hold the pass button for. The new passing system can lead to some great passes but can also lead to so shocking miss passes but only due to myself which makes the game more challenging which is a good thing

Well I'm still playing the demo to get the hang of it. I feel a reason to do with this, is the fact that players are getting too close to each other :S

Do you have any tips to help with the passing?

Not really got any tips as i think it'd just a case of finding what works for you. That's the beauty of the new passing system you can play beautiful barca like passing or you could go direct with long balls it just depends what you prefer. My advice is just keep playing and u'll eventually find a style that suits you.

Maybe your shit! Lol.... Just kidding

Are you using the 'stick' or 'D-pad'? If d-pad that may contribute to slightly mis-directed passes; only because it's hard to fully utilise 360 degrees on a pad shaped + (although ps3 pad 'can' do it).

Regarding dummy, I think that might be because ur holding sprint before you receive ball?? It does take a while to get used to, but the graft is rewarding when you string passes together a-la

I don't think you can kick it right back to a player thats doing a throw in now ( if your very close to him ), cause it always seems too hard, no matter how quickly you tap the button.

This is the only issue i've had with the passing.

I'm loving all the different types of x passes you can do now though.

I still have to get used to the manual long passing with L2 though, but it's big for me because i'm a type 4 passer in WE9.

To pass the ball to a teammate that is really close to you, try using L2 + x for a manual pass. The power bar rises up slower than with normal passing therefore you have more control.:)
The power bar is the only issue I have with passing. It rises up a bit too fast. If it was slower it would've been 100% control.

It can't be too slow though because you would never get your passes off in time.

The ball would be getting taken away from you while you were waiting for the power meter to rise up.

Personally I think the passing system is completely awesome!!! I think its hard to try playing PES2010 again after playing 10-20 games of the Demo, one thing I like in particular and has been mentioned here is that the range of possible playing styles is now drastically more evident than it could be without this change to the passing system, I feel like there is a huge difference between passing the ball around Barca Style or simply hoofing the thing SPL style, and these styles are ones which have a foundation in the team management menu which will lead to a much wider variety of team styles and matches over a ML campaign than ever before seen on PES, the demo however is only that, a demo, I think when the real game is released and people have proper time to see what the game has to offer, the passing system will have a lot of influence on the overall opinion of the game is a very good way, roll on Oct 8th!!!

^Yeah I agree. Although they're not broken, they need fixing in certain situations.

Yep. There needs to be balance. Otherwise it would flow well. But it needs to rise up slower than it does really.

I agree with DaVinche14 about using the Left stick over the D-pad though. I always used to use the D-pad to control my player in Fifa and in Pes 2010, but with the change in the passing system it's just not worth it, many of my passes were going wayward due to really only being able to pass in 8 directions, excluding curl, the stick way of controlling took me a while to adjust as it didn't feel comfy but I'll just have to stick with it.
