Also, the keepers are miles better than the keepers in PES IMO.

Oh yeah the keepers are much better.... I have seen 8 or 9 different FIFA 09 videos of people shooting from the 3 yards away from the corner flag and having the ball swerve out and the back in to fly in the far corner of the goal as the keeper stands there. Even when the player that is shooting is kicking with wrong foot and in the wrong direction to put out to in swerve on it. Any game that has things like that possible is rubbish.

the keepers are much better cause normally in fifa the keepers dont really have a clue what they r doin but this year they are really good to see the last minite save and strech to get it i like it when its nearly a lob goal but the keepers make a fantastic tip over the bar it looks really realistic

Well apparently Lazio didn't shot from the end line, and or have a karate kick volley from the top of the box... i cant even count how mnay of those silly goals i have seen in fifa 09.

No they did not and to be honest I haven't seen that many silly goals.

Well I played about 7 or 8 games on Fifa last night and my first impressions are that it is a really good game and very different to PES, but not all in a good way.

I love the header's for a start, they're so much more realistic than PES and Konami should take note. It's also much more of a passing game and a slow build up is often needed to create a chance, which I really enjoyed! I also loved the jostling with other players and the skills you can pull off.

On the down side I don't think the shooting is quite as good as PES. Sometimes it feels like you press the shoot button and your not the one controlling the player as he finishes it perfectly. It doesn't seem quite as responsive as PES. I also find that the defenders are slow at turning when you control them yet when your attacking you can hardly ever beat them unless you use a skill (but I guess that's actually pretty realistic, if not as fun as PES).

I really love the fact you can change the controls from Assisted to Semi-assisted and manual!! Passing and shooting is so much more realistic on semi or manual.

Finally, I thought it wouldn't make that much of a difference having the licensed teams but the fact I can play a Sheffield derby, or Man u v Liverpool or Rushden & Diamonds v Notts County is brilliant! They've even got the Sheff u players looking like themselves now!!

So, overall my first impressions of Fifa 09 are very positive. I'm gonna give it a few weeks and a hell of a lot more games until I give my final verdict though.

How great was it to finally beeing able to save your settings, formation etc. so you wouldn't have to do that EVERYTIME you're playing the game!!
Played my first 4-5 games of a season with my beloved OB - and had a wave of achievements pouring in over me in the first game. First off I scored a header from a cornerkick= 2 achievements there. A few moments later I scored on a volley from a cross= another 2 achievements. Then in the 89th minute I scored to make it 3-0. And as the shot hit the post and went in - I got 2 achievements again, for scoring in the dying moments and scoring off the post!! Imagine my surprise!!! MAN I'M GREAT!!! :lol:
In the next couple of games I tried hard to get the "score a goal/screamer from 30+ meters" - but I'm affraid I won't get that one unless i have Gerrad, Lampard or Juninhio on my team. None on the OB side is going to give me that achievement!! :blush:

But all in all - what a great game first off!
Does anybody know if it's possible to play a season online with a friend on the same team - coop wise like in Gears of War?

well u can make your own fifa league and let people join im about to join a league but when the host makes it first then basiclly people join and u play against them but i think u can be in the same team when u do be a pro online season u control 1 player

Sounds like you enjoyed it too then. You won 3-0 in your first game!! At what difficulty?

I played on the 2nd highest (Professional I think?) and got battered 4-0 first game :realmad: I only managed to win 2 out of my 7 or 8 games I played last night :crymore: I still loved it though and looking forward to mastering the game!
