Joy of pes

So far I have only seen negative threads about pes, or people complaining. PES 2012 is going to be my first PES game. Playing the demo was absolutely awesome, never playd such a good football game, so I will buy it anyway, no matter all the negative comments.

But is anyone actually enjoying the game? Can you tell me what I should definately try and what maybe not? Do young players have good growth?

Please share some of your PES2012 experience, wud be great!

Hey Gib, don't be put off by the negativity or 'perceived' negativity, the thing with these forums is that PES fans are a different stock of people to FIFA who will just big up the game even if it's shit. On here every angle is covered both good and bad. I have personally given full length opinions and updates continually since I had the game and things change all the time. I think this game, overall is excellent. The hardest part will probably be adapting to Top Player and getting your defensive play sorted (which will NEVER truly be 100% sorted if you get my drift). The game this game is way too overpowered for the attackers with defenders seemingly being stripped of every possible advantage. So, this year it's all about positioning, patience and in Top Player picking the right formation that gets some players behind the ball.

You can't pressure rashly, or leave your unit, and you need to press within reason cutting down space where they have some.

The game isn't without its issues, if you don't play defence the way KONAMI intended it to be played, you'll see more and more scripted goals from the CPU, it's the game modes way of punishing anything reckless. You know that silly pass you gave away in your attacking third when the short ball was on, well be prepared to be punished. But conversely, the more you play the game with patience in defence the fewer of these cheat scripts you're likely to see.

With that said, and I'm sounding a bit negative myself, if I was to say that I have played the game everyday since purchase for a minimum of three hours a time, you'll get the idea. It's a crazy mix of coming back for more, getting that fanatstic 1-0 against Norwich away, then getting battered by Chelsea 4-0 inside 30 minutes.

You have to analyse each team and really knuckle down, concentration is vital this year. I can play FIFA and enjoy it (but you don't really enjoy it if you know what I mean), but when I play PES it's business.....the joy is in all the beatings the CPU dish out and then to get that injury time winner to get you through the group stages against some shit Eastern Europe team lol.

I can win, lose, draw on FIFA and my emotional state never alters. I won 3-1 against Man Utd the other day, and nothing changed. I also lost to Stoke 2-0; facial expressions - nonplus.

BUT PES, man this brings out ALL the emotions. I've gone from jumping around and screaming two inches away from my huge plasma right in the face of a celebrating Andy Carroll after a last minute winning header, to almost throwing my controller through the tele; and that's no lie (when Chelsea came back for the second time with an injury leveller of their own). I could have smashed Torres' pixellated face all over the carpet.

But that's why I play it, it's a kind of sadistic pleasure I get from it, which hasn't been matched yet by any game. Saying that I loved PES2011, played the shit out of it, but I have a feeling that this game, maybe after a patch or two could be the one.

Depends on how you perceive the criticism. There are negative threads because the whiners are usually the loudest crowd. But if you read replies in those threads, there are usually one or more quite sensible poster that "normalize" the situation and point out actual faults, and positives in a fairly decent manner.

I recommend PES12, despite its flaws, because all in all it is a pretty good game. I would probably rate it 6/10 which may sound harsh, but with a possibility to reach as high as 8/10 with a few simple fixes.

Seriously speaking, pes 12 is a good game to play. I again, prefer it to fifa 12 because fifa 12's AI is DUMP, annoying, scripted and does things that you cannot do.

Pes 12 cheats aswell, but at least you can do similar goals that the AI does unlike in fifa 12 where the AI surrounds his players with invisible barriers.

But enough if this. Pes 12 despite all it's flaws, for me is way more enjoyable.

The passing at 0 assist is spot on between player's skill and user's skill.
The individuality is much better represented than it was on the demo and 100% concentration is needed to play it, just like real life.

And I totally agree that pes 12 with a few fixes could have been AWESOME. It is great, but has a few annoyances that are really annoying.

Thanks for the replies!

@techboy11 so that means defending is now a tough challenge, thats cool to me. It shouldn't be easy.

Err, oh yeah!!!!

For the first time in a long while your defence will be pushed and pulled around like nothing else. And you'll have a pleasant surprise when you play teams with three in attack! Chelsea have panned me twice the last couple of games on a previous Master League. I'm talking 3-0 down by half time.

At the moment I'm holding my own, I'm sixth as Liverpool after 11 games. I have scored 15 and only conceded 8, I play on TP, no assists. Looking at that table now, I'm doing a pretty fucking good job on my defending lol, but I haven't played many of the big boys yet...plenty of time to be panned then!!

PES12 is a good game, its online that is a problem, not the lag, the connections are great and very fluid its the gamespeed and setting Konami has that kill the online experience imo. Offline its a gem!

I will complain about the things I don't like in the game but overall I had a pleasurable weekend playing a lot of games and finally not messing with OFs. I would recommend the game to anyone.

I think the graphics are down from 2011 but the animations are up. Keepers are very good. I think shooting is just fine, I know a number of other people have complained about it. Speed is fast, but the AI is much improved. Through balls are more difficult (good thing) and I like how the CPU AI dumps the ball high and deep as a strategy sometimes, something tht was missing in 2011.

And my EPL season mode has only 50% of the games played at night compared to 98% in 2011. They are getting better at it

i agree, had a couple of games with a few mates last night, it was freaking brilliant to play compared to pes 2011. In pes 2011, once you have more than one player on the team it was unplayable

yeah, i was reluctant to buy pes too early as first i could get it 2 months later at half price and second i would be bored of the game quicker as i normally get up to my 20th season in master league. if i got bored normally i'd start the game mode agian or do a different one- even club boss sounds interestingsetting targets eventhough you don't get too play any matches

interesting viewpoint. That is how I usually feel about shooters, & adventure games and why I quit buying them but to me sports games don't have a shelf life until the next version comes out. You can always compete without it being a re-run.

Now that my friend is just insane. The game hasn't been even released here. My advice = play less, enjoy more.

Just like IronCity, I think sport games are very long lasting mostly. I'm in fact still not nearly "finished" PES2011..

Exactly, one of my first games was a sport game too. NHL 2005 lol. I remember playing that for 2 years :)
