Who is this fruitcake ?

Kirkland is a very good keeper, im not sure he should be mentioned amongst the best in the world, but if he wasnt injured all the time he would be England No1.

my cousins mates uncles room mate said he used to go school with kirkland and he use to always drop stuff he got the nick name butter fingers

Casillas is too stupid at aerial balls and corner kicks,he has only good reflexes.Petr Cech is way ahead,an excelent keeper.
And there is not such term as "best in the world" because all goalkeepers make mistakes sometimes and all of them make incredible saves.

firstly cech is not as good as he was a few years ago, doesnt need to make alota saves, anyway, id have to disagree wit you and say that a goalie is the only player who can ahve "best in the world" tag, all postions require different attributes but a keepers job is to keep the ball out at any means, if casillas misses a cross but still saves it i wouldnt care becase he kept it out, i think one particular keepr could be the best in the world, one who can keep it out of the net at any cost...

^That doesn't mean anything. The defence did their job aswell, not just the keeper. Do not forget about the defence. ;)
Keepers skill is not based on goals conceded, but on the type of saves and attamept and jumps the keeper make to keep the ball out. Oh and how the keeper protects the net too by closing on the opposing player.

Reina's stats were a disgrace on 09. Cech and Buffon were members of the hardest keepers to defeat club. Given was actually quite good in newcastle so i think he might be better in the new game.

1 - Buffon
2 - Cech
3 - casillas
4 - Given
5 - Sar

My top 5...for pes that is :p

I like Julio Caser, he should defo be up there in the top 3.
Along with Cassilas and Buffon.
I like Reina hes started this season really well.. But he has not won a major title or league title yet so he cant really dislodge Iker from the Spain squad and be classed as the best.
When his keeping has helped Liverpool win the league or go all the way in CL then he will be remebered and regarded as one of the best.

Mohammed Al-Deayea was once loosely considered one of the finest keepers in the world, and he went on to concede 8 goals against Germany at the world cup a year later (2002) ...So consistency really is the key, for that reason I would say Buffon, whose mantle might well be taken up by Reina. Julio Cesar is also an exceptional shot stopper, and someone who tends to get overlooked... but could well prove to be the difference for Brazil at the world cup... no longer do they have a so called 'dodgy' goalkeeper

I guess you never watched that match. If it wasn't for him Germany would've scored twice as much. He was the only player that showed up for Saudi. Not one of the finest but very good keeper nonetheless.

Buffon has clearly been the world's best goalkeeper even in just the last two years. Julio Cesar has been good and is certainly in the top four or five in the world but he's not the best.

Well Cesar has the great inter defence and Buffon (last year) had the bad Juve defence. This year Buffon has better defence and the result is:
Watch Buffon this year. He already proved why he is the best again even with Italy.

I think that the original poster forgot about Van Der Sar. Yes i agree with you that Ceaser is good but not the best for me because he only managed to pick up the league trophy. If you take a look at all the goal-keepers and the season they had, you'll see that Van Der Sar out-stands the rest and for that UEFA awarded him as the best keeper for the 2008/09 season.....

^Again, winning trophies doesn't make you a better goalkeeper than the others. But the amount of saves or stops or how the keeper rushes out to protect the net is what counts.
Cesar was better than van der sar last year without a doubt. He saved really good shots. But still he isn't the best keeper overall because a I said 1 good season doesn't make you the best.
