Killer balls

Flipper the Priest

The Northern Light
Picture the scenario:

Forward 1 (with ball)

____
}
}
*Last Defender
} Goalkeeper
}
}
}___
*For ward 2

How would I bend the ball round the back of the last man into forward 2's path while keeping it on the deck?

I've wasted soooo many chances cos i just cant do it. Do you use through ball or what? Please let me know!!

Cheers.

You can't literally curl the ball along the ground to the other striker, but you can try a couple of things, the through ball being one of them.

You can try a manual pass by pushing the the right analogue stick in the desired direction and pressing it in (aka R3). This way you can control the power and direction.

Other than that there's always the chipped throughball (L1 and triangle) or long ball....

Back and to the left.
Don't even bother passing just take it on yourself and put it into the bottom corner. Failing that try a through ball but make sure the other guy stays onside

A player with good enough short pass accuracy should make great pass with through ball. If he's not good just press x and it should go around the defender automatically.

Yeah i would say use circle, depending on how far away the second forward is, i'd use double circle personally but make the defender run over to you first cos when forward two gets it he'll have about an hour to control and score.

wait for the defender to come closer and X should do the trick. Also i use a quick O pass in the air to get some nice looking goals.

I know exactly what Flipper means. I have been in that situation so many times. If you use through ball (even with the best players) it's normally overhit and an easy claim for the keeper. I usually end up using X, but if you have time, fake a shot with the striker in possession and the defender should move towards you either allowing tee-up your second striker or give you a better scoring position with your first man.

This is basic 2v1 move.

I always use the thru-ball (triangle) in this situation and it usually comes off perfectly. Although my guy with the ball is slightly behind/square with the last defender.

The key, is timing when you execute the pass. It HAS to be before your 2nd forward is square with the defender. If you release the pass too late, the AI over compensates the pass direction (since thru balls direction is not user determined), and it ends up towards the keeper. If you release it too early, the angle get deeper (closer to the keeper).

If you release it roughly as per the diagram in the earlier post, it's should turn out well. Although release it when my player with the ball is square/almost square with the defender.

Pressing X does work too, but sometimes can be too close to the defender and might be intercepted easily. Use it when you have a clear line.

Cheers

Well, maybe you can slow down first, let the defender approach your first striker, then cuts inside the defender and release the pass...if the goalkeeper is drawn out, even better! Your second striker will then have the simplest of scoring opportunities.
