Oh, forgot to add, I'm only talking about SS/CF characters, as a midfielder you can influence posession a lot more, even if your team is dumbed down by the AI. As a forward, there's virtually nothing you can do, it's impossible to keep running back and helping the defence, and score goals up front at the same time, because of stamina.

Finally, once again: most of the time it's great, nothing wrong with it, only in those streaks.

Hi, I'm totally new here, and don't want to start on the wrong foot, but I don't think that most of you understand what OptimusPrime's talking about, as he was not giving you detailed information.

The AI is perfect on top player, nothing wrong with it - in most of the games. But there are streaks where the AI switches into "dumb-mode", and then you're going to suck no matter what. And it only starts to happen around season 4-5.

Just an example, I scored 9 goals in my first season with Toulouse, then had a little slump, switched to PSG and scored 6 in the second half of the second season. My 3rd season was pretty good with PSG, scored 27 in all competitions altogether. After that I decided to switch to Sampdoria. Everything looked good, I scored 3 in the 5 training games, and 3 in my first 5 league games too, we were 2nd in the league after 10 weeks.

Then "dumb-mode" kicked in, and suddenly my team started to play some extremely terrible football: 10 games 9 losses 1 draw, 0 goals, 0 assists, and I've been MOM 3 times with 6.0 rating! I saved my game, quit, next day I carried on, and everything worked perfectly once again, team plays well, I score goals, etc. After a few games dumb-mode kicks in again, and my teammates can't do anything right once more, the ball is on our half of the pitch for 80 minutes.

Roberto Carlos is my teammate, and when things are right he has great crosses from time to time, at least 2-3 every game. When dumb-mode starts, he will still go to the sideline, but NONE of his crosses reach me out of 35-40 tries in 8-10 games.

Every time you switch teams, dumb-mode seems stop, and only start again if you're getting pretty results once more.

I think that is the problem OptimusPrime tried to tell you, and it's not only him, I read comments from about 7-8 guys who played at least 5 seasons on different forums, and they ALL had the same problem - loving BAL throughout the first 3 seasons, and getting totally dejected in the 4th-5th. I've actually yet to find 1 single guy who's in his 5-6 (etc) season in BAL on Top player and didn't suffer from exactly the same problem at least once or twice.

BTW, I also started a game on regular to see if it has this dumb-mode too, but it seems regular is ok. (Unfortunately regular is way too easy, I'm probably an average player, and still score every game, mostly at least twice, even in my 2nd season.)

I really love BAL, great mode, but if this AI problem persists, it will totally ruin the game imho.

Well I'm only 2/3 through my 2nd season so I don't have clue about this, but you should ask Gaffa08, he's on Top Player and must be about 6 seasons in now. Haven't heard him complain once about this, but he could be bottling up his frustration, you never know...

I agree with you though, BAL is an ace mode& if this problem does come up then it's one of the only problems with it. People were simply responding to the title of the thread which the vast majority disagree with. Do you think the game would be better without the mode? Just because the AI can be annoying?? It's just like real life, they can't play brrilliantly every week, teams go through bad patches and good patches

Actually I think it's ok to have bad streaks, and I like the idea too, but Konami exaggerated this a bit too far. I mean, 10 game bad streak for all players in your team? My team has a lot of World Cup winners like Makelele, Roberto Carlos, Cassano, etc, and they can't seem to make one good move when the bad streak starts.

Also look at your team's goal difference and compare it to other teams in the league. It will be very-very poor, and it is for everybody, I have yet to see any exceptions, very few goals scored by the team you're in, cause they are outclassed in a lot of the games, and it's totally irrelevant if your team has great players or just average guys.

The game needs bad streaks, otherwise it would be too easy and unrealistic, but dumbing down EVERY player in your team for 8-10 games is a huge mistake imho. Not to say that it's extremely frustrating, playing literally hours without any chance to have any success, before finally it goes back to normal again. It's a game that needs to be challenging for longevity, but it can't be totally funless for hours - own goal by Konami.

I'm in my 6th season now...

I've been at the following clubs....

1st season:

Portsmouth - Played nice football, didn't really do much wrong but I moved halfway through the season.

Man City - Stayed until the season finished. We was playing great football, but decided to move at the end of the season...

2nd season:

Tottenham - Started off crap at the beginning of the season, lost and drew about 7 games then went on a winning streak. Moved at the end of the season.

3rd season:

Arsenal - Football was great, AI was playing nice one touch football. Lost in the final of the Euro Cup and finished 3rd in the league. Moved at the end of the season...

4th season:

Liverpool - My club and I was here to stay. Football wasn't that great to start off with. Took me a few games to get a permanent place in the first team, but once I was there everything was looking great! But! For some stupid reason, I read on these forums that if you skip matches your stats go up faster, so silly me I started skipping matches, got a bit carried away and Liverpool didn't want to renew my contract! FUCK!

5th season -

AC Milan - I waited until the last week for a new Liverpool offer but it never came, AC Milan was the only offer... I was expecting a good season, but AC Milan are the worst team I've played for, I literally had to do everything on the pitch... Formation was shit, players was shit... Saying that though we was always in contention for all the cups and league. But never won any... It was my best season as a player though.

6th season:

Chelsea - Waited until the last week again to see if Liverpool would take me back, but nothing. Chelsea was the only English club offering so I had to take it... So far, we have played about 15 games, won 14 and drawn 1... I've scored 8 goals playing DMF!!! Jesus! The AI team at Chelsea is amazing I have to say.

ive been working too much these days so im still at Newcastle in my 2nd season. Average season, im UEFA Cup 1/4 final 2nd leg. beat Lazio 2 - 1 in the first leg

Last 16 was my best game tho, i scored the 1st away goal, won a penalty which resulted in a goal / red card for the guy .. i got a man of the match award for it

Well, my bad streak seems to be over now, I just scored a winner against Valencia in the quarterfinal of the UEFA Cup, before that a hattrick against Genoa, and the game winner against Chievo. 5 goals in 3 games, and as I said, we've had a 10 game streak earlier, where I didn't score any, and I probably had 10 shots on goal altogether in those games (and most of these went wide or over too...).

On the other hand it was definitely a fantastic feeling to score after that very long drought, and that's what makes the game a class of it's own.

All in all, I'd really love it if my teammates could score a little more, it's really hard to get any assists, as they miss everything. We play 3-5-2, and I've scored more goals than the other forwards in the team altogether. No surprise we're only 11th in the league.

I noticed in a thread somewhere about the Agility stat.... my Player is 175 Height and 65 Kilos and my Agility is 88!

I have yet to see a concrete formula of how agility is worked out but obv it has sumat 2 do with size/weight etc,

Just thought ad add that incase anyone was wondering how to get a higher agility.

I read somewhere, I think it was the piggyback example for the BAL mode, that changing the level only affects the opposition, your team is hardcoded to professional.

I think saying drop this mode is somewhat a kneejerk reaction, if anything it needs to be developed, and IMO it is the future for PES especially online.

Best thing about PES this year for sure.

If you don't like the AI play legends online with three other human players, a lot better than I first thought it would be!

BAL is great, the AI may not be perfect, but now they have something to work with for the next release.

Also for some of you, you can't compare and AMF role with a CF role..you have to move different ...and yes some of you might be better at it than me so what..is this game only made for guys that know all the tricks and feints...

Again as I said from the beginning I haven't even touched ML as I was so excited about this new feauture...but why put it in there if it is not decent..

Is Seabass so stupid to make the same mistake twice...he said it himself he didn't want to release pes2008 because it wasn't perfect..now your adding a new feature which is the same...so who's fooling who...

Just finished playing champions league game with Aston Villa against AZ..scored twice and was 2 goals up..get subbed in the 68 minute and they draw..which put me in third place having to win my last game to advance while I thought I did my thing and could relax..If you like those situations than BLA is all for you..but to me it's halfass..and I don't expect Konami to fix it..They can't fix the damn ML..so why should I expect them to do something with the BAL...

Years have passed..you have the same crappy ref decisions;same balloonshots; same wide shots; same invisible walls; same ball manipulation..same unfair extra time decision because when the ball is in the AI's possesion and you have 2 minutes they stretch it till the AÍ loses it...All these things have been in there at least 3 versions in a row..so why expect them to make BAL ..perfect...you tell me that..

I couldn't really care if I don't win anything. I play on top player for a "CHALLENGE". I don't play the game on the lowest difficulty settings then get excited when I score 7 goals as CF in a season. I still can't help but laugh at how pitiful you are.

No-one will take you seriously until you play on top player.
