75p a minute for their support line?!? That is a joke.

Am I being unreasonable? I have already paid for the game, just seems a bit crap.

If anyone can give me any hints how to get my game to work I would owe you forever. The problem is-

I've installed it, but when I either press the icon on my desktop, or go to it from the start menu, or press "play" from the autorun menu, it just freezes. It started once and I have no idea why. My drive just chugs away sometimes, or just does jack all.

Please someone help me, I'm dying to play this.

Maybe you have some RAM problems. Make sure that you try to play PES as soon as you start the pc. Do not open any software what so ever. Try it this way.

How much RAM have you got?

I have 512mb RAM. One thing is I run Windows ME (don't ask). But it says it should run on that.

What kind of drivers could be a issue? One thing, I don't have the web (except here at work) so downloading stuff is an issue.

I'm not very compitent in this subject. Try it on a similar computer with Win XP as an operating system. That should give you the answer. Graphic cards only affect you in-game so they're not worth bothering with for now.

Well it works on my mates with XP. I might try my actual disk, it might be a fault with that. Thanks for replying.

Nice Carlos Valderama by the way.

If anyone else has had this problem can they give me any tips?

Posting your full system specs would be a help.
And I think the graphics card is quite important in whether or not the game loads. Which one is it?

NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200-8X

that's the gfx

1.7 pentium4
512mb ram
some onboard sound (is AC-97 a sound thing?)

so not the greatest system ever but the demo worked fine. I think the booklet says it supports that card.

things to look at is:

a) there enought space on the hard drive that contains the window folder to play it (20-30 meg +)

b) dose your disk work at your mates, or vice versa, dose his disk work on yours

and yep the graphic card dose help at start up, if it ant got the space of speed to take the data to produce the start up it dies

edit:
the time it worked have you installed anything after wards?

okay

a/ i have only a 40gb hard drive, and whoever had it before me put in a partition (is that right?) so it's 20gb in c and d drives. If by the "window folder" you mean where it's installed to, then it should have plenty of room really.

b/ i'll try my disk at my mates tonight and report back.

- with regards to the time it worked - I had bought as usb pad (gameware from game) to play it on. As a last resort I took the pad out and took it out of system in control panel. Then amazingly it started. I went mental, thought it was the pad. But when I've tried to restart it again it's been the same, with pad, without pad. So I'm totally stumped.

I'm gagging to have a go of this Recoba kicks or whatever the hell everyone's going on about.

Thanks for your help so far.

Tried my disk in my mates machine, worked fine...

any more ideas? I might try it all off again and deleting the Konami bit in the registry, then reinstalling. I did have the demo on there so there might have been some clash in the registry as I didn't uninstall the demo before getting the full game.

Daym you seem pretty despirate so heres my best shot!

I think if you've managed to install the game the disk is in supyb working order... and your PC is fine (by no means perfect) to play the game on.
Do you know about patching the game to version 1.10 ... And using NoCD executable's to launch the game. www.gamecopyworld.com , i think everything i've mentioned is on this website. Over the months i've had it I've fixed so many tiny errors and now the game is superb, I'm on version 1.10 , using a NOCD executable, On a networked PC in my bedroom that can Host and Client Online games :D

Okay I downloaded the right file. I think. It's called hlm-ps11.rar.

Question - this is WinRAR or something right? So it's compressed is that correct?

Is there anyway of splitting this file up to fit on 2 floppy disks? At the mo it's about 2.5 meg and I have no burner here (at work) and no flash usb storage type gadgets or anything. And no web at home.

Windows ME had shitty support for USB products, if I got it right from one of your posts you said it worked before you installed the game pad?

As for WinRar, its easy to find and download. What I would recommend you do is install Winrar at work if you can do it.

Extract the patch you have downloaded and then repack it with winrar. You can do this by right clicking on the patch file and left click on "add to archive" it should throw up a context box with alot of options. The one you are looking for is "split to volumes, bytes" in the drop down box you can seperate the file into 1.4MB files so you can copy them to floppy disks.

I seem to remember the game patch being 9MB? about 6 floppies? not 100% sure.

After all that I'm not sure downloading the 1.10 patch will correct your problem, it was made to update minor bugs in online play.

I think it is somewhere connected to that gamepad you installed, sounds stupid I know but these things happen all the time. I.T is my business and the best way to solve a problem is to backtrack your steps and try to remember anything at all that you have changed before it went wrong.

Hallelujah

It's only working now. Tried that patch. Amazingly my dodgy game pad seems to be working too.

It's certainly harder than PES 2. Haven't scored off a free kick yet, the goalies are awesome. All my goals have been pens, or cut backs or the occasional one on one. I was up til about 3 playing it. Knackered.

Cheers everyone, really appreciate your help.
