Konami Grab Champions League License?!?!

It would be a disaster if the license was only applied in a seperate game, if it's across both the standard release and any additional releases then it's all good.

But if was to be in the standard release, then there would be absolutely no need for the additional release.

I just really hope Konami doesn't go through with this, implementing the CL license into the usual PES series would mean a vast improvement as far as licensing for realism. Obviously the gameplay must be improved above all else, but it will be infuriating if Konami denied the PES series the opportunity of an official Champions League.

If it is a separate game why would Konami have made known that Pes09 will include this new license unless they expected it to appear in Pes09? Although it's possible they thought this would happen and now UEFA are putting too much pressure on them. I think Konami need to remember the benefit this addition would have to Pes09 and subsequent versions. They hold the license now so surely they can decide what to do with it!? The only worry I have is they'll look at short term profits and see that a separate game would be a big boost economically

Doesn't interest me in the slightest to be honest. It's hardly gonna make me more excited about PES09. They won't be able to compete with EA's licenses if that's what their going for. They should be focusing more on fixing the gameplay rather than the look of the game.

If they release two different game versions then surely most people will probably end up buying the game with a proper licence..

Well yes but having the CL license will definately attract more people because the game would become much better as it would have more replay value (since CL is licensed). I know it's better to fix the gameplay but having the CL license will definately make me buy the game.

It's about both things really, game play has to come first but getting these things can only help

Well if they do release 2 different versions, maybe one of them will only include the Champions League (such as the FIFA World Cup games etc)... And the other being the full PES that we know and love...

I think that would be completely disrespectful, that' the kind of thing I expect from EA Sport -but- I really didn't expect the same BS from Konami.

If Konami releases 2 different games; "PES" and "UEFA Champions League" -that- would be a slap in the face to all the fans, it would be rip off -and- if Konami does that shit I'm not going to buy BOTH games. And of course, by doing this, Konami would be giving me another good reason to switch to FIFA.

Well then, what would be the point in buying a game, just to play a Champions League competition. It's a dreadful idea for the fans.

Exactly, it is a waste of money to buy a "UEFA Champions League" game. What is the point of that!!

The cool thing would be to qualify your team to the Champions League year after year -and- also to win the Champions League and League Title, etc, etc..

Yes it would be dreadful, but i think its an option now for Konami since they have got the license and not declared what they are doing with it.

If they do opt for the 2 game release then it could give them extra profit... and, as you all know, big companies LOVE your money!

Well, apparently UEFA's license comes only under ONE condition, and that is that the company MUST release an INDIVIDUAL game for the UEFA Champions League.

I hope UEFA understand that I'm not going to buy such a ridiculous excuse for money, I'm never going to buy a "UEFA Champions League" game -and- I'm not going to buy it because they are ripping people off. The UEFA Champions League should be included in PES09.. What is the point of playing in Europe -if- Europe's most important competition (The UEFA Champions League) isn't included in the game.

Way to go Konami and UEFA.. thanks for giving me another good reason to stop buying profitable games altogether, thank you.

here is what is going to happen if Sony is behind this they will make Konami make a stand alone Champions League game and only release it on PS3, PS2 and PSP. That way they get an exclusive game and screw people over who have a XBOX 360.

Things are getting way out of hand here. This is why you shouldn't believe rumors. Just because it says so on the frontage doesn't mean it's true. Konami has allot to make up for. So they know if they make another mistake fans will be very pissed. And NO THEY WILL NOT GO TO FIFA. PES fans stay PESfans

well apprently there is no chance of KONAMI getting more than 2 licences so what does this mean. will they have 2 of the BIG 4, or will they have none of the big 4 and just two teams like pompey and tottenham.

Also with the CL they would have loads of teams in it that arnt associated with any league Konami has which would be complicated. also teams like Boca Juniors etc. how cld u put them in the ML CL

You are spot-on, that's exactly what's going to happen. It is very unfortunate that profitability screws things for the fans. Every PES fan will be disappointed with the fact that Konami will have to release 2 different games; "PES" and "UEFA Champions League".

I'm not buying that "UEFA game", screw them. And by the way, what's the point of having all the European Leagues -IF- you cannot have the most important competition in Europe; The UEFA Champions League.

As long as Champions league licensed will be on Pes 2009 I'll be happy. It's not Konami's fault if UEFA wants another game.

I think it would be a win-win for everyone involved -if- Sony and Konami reach an agreement of ONLY including the UEFA Champions League on the PES versions for PS3.

This way it would be very profitable for Sony, as well as it would please millions of PES Fans worldwide. The main issue with such an agreement would be that it isn't the best profitable-wise proposition for UEFA (from UEFA's perspective).

And yeah, such an agreement would suck for Xbox owners -but- it is better than getting ripped off by Konami-Sony-UEFA.

This could really work wonders for Konami -as- featuring the UEFA Champions League in their PES series -could- prove decisive in their competition with EA's FIFA.

And then again, a spin-off game of the "UEFA Champions League" might not turn out as profitable as they expected. Only fools buy such an excuse of a game.

If there is a stand alone UEFA CL game, will all the teams be licensed? If not, it would be soooooo crap! Imagine a CL with teams such as North London and Trad Brick??? So I guess Konami will put the CL license in PES2009 if they really grab that license.
