I've read that the world will be more akin to Mafia 2 than GTA/RDR, so a really nice backdrop with not much to do other than drive round and do the story, but it won't be anywhere as linear as Mafia 2. As long as the game is great I doubt i'd care as I loved Mafia 2 nonetheless.

A few facts I've just picked up:

1) There are at least main 22 cases in the game.
2) Cases have multiple outcomes. Some have up to 9 different endings depending on the actions you take/mistakes you make.
3) You can fail cases and sometimes failing a case may open up new cases that are otherwise inaccessible
4) Ammo is unlimited, though I don't know if this means you will never run out of it or if there is an unlimited supply available to you at the LAPD.
5) You can choose to ignore the driving mechanics of the game and have your partner drive you everywhere instead.
6) All cases are based on real crimes from the period, with some unsolved mysteries having endings written for them in the game.
7) There will be multiple endings to the main game.
8) Rockstar Games are only publishing this game and have no hand in developing it, so it isn't guaranteed to match up to the usual heights of say RDR and GTA so maybe don't hype this up too much lol.

Sounds good to me.

Hmmm, I did not know that. Even so, you gotta trust Rockstar's judgement. I don't think they'd attach themselves to a game, if it was gonna be shite. Everything else you mention sounds great. Sounds like theres some aspects of Heavy Rain, with the multiple endings and what-not. Should have plenty of replayability.

Really looking forward to this now that it has a release date. It's in a pretty damn long list of must-buys for 2011 already.

Waiting....
That looks fucking incredible! Day one purchase, no doubt it.

EDIT: I suppose there will be no online multiplayer modes?

It looks amazing. My main worry would be whether the clue searching and interrogating sections will actually be fun, rather than a chore. But it looks great, and the voice acting seems top notch.

Dragonfly

Waiting....
Definitely no multiplayer. Bondi have confirmed it.

I didn't think so. I'm not sure how that would work, unless they divert from the game's theme.

I think I'm going to wait before I pre-order. I'm hoping for a limited edition or HMV exclusive.

Definitely no multiplayer. Bondi have confirmed it.

Good. A lot of games piss on themselves by forcing in a terrible multiplayer experience, *cough* BioShock 2 *cough*.

The gameplay trailer looks brilliant though, and the face motions and voice acting looks like nothing I've ever witnessed before in a game, it's sensational. Lets cross our fingers that the game story is quite lengthy, but with it being R* I think we can assume that'll be the case.

Looks good. The release date is 20th May, apparently? That's nice then, because my exam's over on 15th May.

I'm definitely glad there's no multi-player in the game. I also hate multi-player achievements, so that's another plus.

Game looks fookin' brilliant after the latest gameplay trailer. I really can't wait for it, it's a day 1 purchase for me along with quite a few games this year. My bank account is going to hate 2011.

Don't fancy pre-ordering L.A. Noire but worried you'll miss out on the various shop-offered early-bird goodies?

Rockstar has revealed they'll be sold as downloadable additions after launch - as will the Read Dead Redemption pre-order goodies at long last.

"All of the L.A. Noire pre-order content will be made available for purchase as DLC at some point after the game comes out," wrote Rockstar on its website.

"We have long planned to do this for all digital pre-order items.

"In case you're interested," the post added, "the Red Dead Redemption pre-order items (Deadly Assassin Outfit, Golden Guns Weapon Pack and War Horse) will finally be available for download via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network this April. Apologies that has taken so long, but we ran into some technical issues."

L.A. Noire can be pre-ordered from a variety of shops, each dangling a different piece of bonus bait before you.
Hmmm..

L.A. Noire pre-order bonuses are diverse - a handful of shops all jostle for your heavy, money-dripping purse.

Here's a roundup of what's on offer.

GAME is the only place with two bits of content: the Naked City case and the Badge Pursuit Challenge.

The former revolves around the mysterious death of a beautiful fashion model - no peeking under the white sheet. The papers say suicide, but was it?

Badge Pursuit Challenge scatters 20 police badges around LA for you to find. Each one you collect grants five additional experience points, and if you manage to locate them all then you'll receive the Button Man detective suit. This provides extra ammo for all weapons.

Amazon offers The Broderick detective suit, which boosts fist-fighting power and defence.

Play has bagged the Slip of the Tongue case, a car theft investigation that eventually uncovers a huge auto-fraud racket.

Zavvi, finally, has The Sharpshooter detective suit which, understandably, helps your aim with pistols and rifles.

I hate all this exclusive pre-order bonus rubbish. I'm alright with pre-order bonuses in general, but it's unfair to make us miss out on certain aspects of the game because of where we bought the gmae from. If I was to pre-order it, I'd most likely go for one of the options with an added mission. At least it adds something worthwhile to the game.
