Pff for crying out loud, thats not the point is it, at least not in my view. The reason we like real names and real teams is because it offers a sense of realism which enhances the enjoyement we receive from the game. Now - to have players that retire and then come back with the same name, appearance etc. is just completely unrealistic and a logical impossibility. Where as, like championship manager, when new "made up" players arrive, at least it is realistic in the sense we can imagine them to be new players that have emerged from the youth system and so on.

Another big point people have failed to mention is, half the fun of players retiring and new players coming into the game, like CM - is scouting and finding promising "re-gens" who you nurture into good players in the future. If the retired players are just coming back exactly the same, and there is no evidence to suggest that won't be the case, the only evidence suggests that this will be the case, meaning we will already know who the good "re-gens" are going to be due to their name. For example if we go into the free players list and see the regen of Zidane, one is going to immediately approach that player as we know they are going to be skilled players. Where as if new players replace retired players with different stats and appearances, it adds a whole new dimension to the game and a huge challenge in building your squad not just for the short term but for the long term as well.

Some of you guys either need play champ man for a few seasons, get your heads screwed on or stop blowing smoke up Konamis ass the whole time. Yes they have made a great game, but that isn't going to stop me from moaning when they make a complete fuck up.

As someone, totally correctly said, this thread is to DISCUSS the NEWS - it doesnt say "praise konami even if they decide to introduce a crap new feature". In my opinion something like this could ruin the master league game, especially if we are going to be forced to use Konamis often inaccurate and poorly researched data and appearances.

long post there Cristiano, sorry to say this mate but, we haven't seen or played the game yet have we? that's my main point. until now i think Konami is releasing something good. trying to be as positive as i can coz thats what Konami got me used to. You can say whatever you want mate, but don't you realise that were making a big deal out of nothing? i guess we should wait until the game is out then everything would be crystal clear. Then based on that, we can start praising or firing at Konami ;)

Why don't they do what CM of past used to do and mix retired players names. Roy Keane and Zidane retire.

New players:

Zindene Keane
Roy Zidane

Well, you have to remember - something I think you all are forgetting about - KONAMI doesn't use first names, only last names.

I know some patches, such as X-Patch, have for exp. Zidane Z., Del Piero A., Saviola J.P.

but KONAMI doesn't do it that way. They only use last names.

You don´t need the game to rate this feature, it´s clearly in front of you, that´s how it will look in the game, not different. No one is saying this game will be crap, it´s just this feature, I´m sure this game will be great, and I like most of the additions. I´ve praised Konami already for the new licenses, for more teams, for gameplay improvements which will be in there for sure, although I haven´t played this game yet. But I have also the right to critisize what I don´t like. I don´t think anyone is making a big deal out of sth, this here is just a forum where we post our opinions. Either positive or negative. That´s all.

EDIT: This is a reply to the post of Lami
You´re right Jumbo, they haven´t used first names so far, unless there are more players with the same name. And I don´t think this will change in WE8.

Yeah, I only thought about that after I posted. I still think if there was a bank of say 200 names, which could be picked randomly with a random letter generator picking an initial in front of the name, this would create some slight individuality.

yea i know what ya mean man, thats why i'm posting my opinion too :) that reflects how i think. the thing is, were not so sure how the implementation of retiring/regenerating would be. incase of regenrating, for example Zidane, as a promising youth talented player with the same default stats Zidane has then that would be shit. but incase his stats were low and were supposed to help him become a superstar then i like the idea :)

EDIT: This is a reply to the post of Larsson ;)

Sounds pretty much like CM.

Where quite a lot of today's players can be cast into obscurity for many a year.

I'm not too bothered though.

I think we can all be confident that konami aren't going to release PES3 in a new box.

Konami have rarely seriously disappointed us (with some people moaning at PES2)

keep the faith and the magicnuss will be fulfillingness.

But it still all comes down to the fact that when zidane does come back he'll be as old as the rooneys and ronaldos who if zidane comes back with crap stats are gonna be better than him, they'll be other players who will be better than him who if compared to pre retirement zidane were no where near him..then you'll see other players, probably older (unrealistic) with better stats (unrealistic) and just the whole idea is just....nuts!! nuts I tells ya!! It just becomes a fantasy football type thing, and I thought konami were trying to get away from this kind of thing, hence the implementation of kits, licenses, stadia etc...then they do something which is heading back to fiction again. If players retire in the master league so be it, to make it more realistic, just have made up players available like in pes3. Ok they have fake names but imagine them to be the next big stars, we'd get used to it. I think that would be better.

Personally i agree 100% with the opinions of cristiano! and t1000v2.0. The methods of regenerating players that they have suggested are the same as my ideas on this, and are more logical and would create more realism.

I know that Lami said you should use your imagination on this issue, but i'm afraid my imagination doesn't stetch this far. Lets face it, this feature is sounding pretty crap.

Tss, I totally agree with C. Ronaldo.... Good heaven, its a stupid move from Konami.... The feature doesnt sound to me that it will bring PES to a higher level, maybe even takes it down...... Till a while ago I only heard features and so that made me a happy man... This makes me a little sad....

hmmmmm... what if zidane were to retire at age of 38 for example, and now hes 30? lets say hes 30, so that gives us 8 seasons till he retires. maybe his stats would drop according to his age. after those 8 seasons, Rooney would be aroud 26, right? hmmm, then Konami says retired players come back after a couple of seasons, which would maybe mean that Zidane comes back after about 2 seasons of his retirement as a youth player, prolly 16? by then Rooney is 28, hehe. now u have to improve Zidane by training. which would take couple of seasons ofcourse ;) (well i hope so) so when Zidane is about 18-19 hes a promising talented youth :) well i hope it works that way. it aint that bad :) it's sort of fun. maybe japanese implemented regeneration of retired players coz they believe that dead people are reborn but with different looks?

Wait a min, i see your point, but thats worse!!! Rooney will be much older than Zidane!!!! LOL now its becoming comical. It will all be back to front after a few seasons think about it!! all those retired players will be younger than those that were young when the zidanes were in their prime then the tables are turned and its all reverse!! come on, can anyone see how that makes sense??

A football life cycle!! LOL yes professor!! we understand clearly now..hehe, how i ever doubted those intelligent people at konami, as they have something to rival Fifa in the gimmick stakes, introducing the new player life cycle system (double trademarked!!)

But will Rooney's appearance change as he ages or will he keep his chubby baby-face even into his 30s??? (Speaking of which, is it just me or is little Wayne's voice still changing? hehe) Also, when Zidane re-appears as a 16-year-old prodigy, will he have a full head of hair? Did he ever have hair???

And what's with footballers losing their hair so young? Poor old Gary Doherty. Looks 20 years older than he is.

hmm...what if there's a regen player who's called...Didier Gepardieu or something...and he's zidane...but you don't know it...maybe he's black and has long hair like davids...but has the potential to become zidane!that's cool because it's a different player...and he's got the possibility to be like zidane....or not...if you play him in your ML team for example as CMF he might not improve as well as if you played as OMF and may never become as good as zidane....see what i mean???
if konami does the regenaration thingy like this i'll surely like it!

I believe this is the way it should be done. Keeps things fresh.
