Layoff freekick missiles

Has anyone else discovered this freekick technique, it's not very accurate but if lucky the ball will fly like a missile! If you get a very good hit the ball can go in a straight line into goal from 35m.

How to do it:
R.footed players must shoot from right side and L.footed from left side.
Hold L2 to get the 2nd player for the layoff, not once but twice
Then aim for the left side of wall (if on right side), hold L1 and press X to lay off
Immediatly press the shoot button. experience with how much power you need.

I don't think holding UP or pressing triangle will make the shot more powerful with this method, but I'm not sure about it. Also I'm not sure if it's possible to aim properly because sometimes the shot will go to the wrong side. But like I said you will need some luck with this method.

Here's some example videos:

I find this works at least 50% of the time with Alan Shearer (I play with Newcastle most as clubs). And Steven Gerrard is good for England.

Yeh I know what you mean about the powerful shots, Ive not mastered it yet but randomly if I lay a player on the ball will rocket straight towards goal! although I'll try your technique later and see if it works, usually when I lay someone on its a high shot without any power, Ive got a good method of scoring from 35+ ...lay the ball on, and fill the power bar up(depending on how far out you are) and usually the keeper will run off his line then your shooter will lob him.

These are working like a charm in training, I've found the best player to do them with in the England squad is Lampard.

I don't like using it. It's a bug in the game and it's a very cheap way of scoring. Also, this has been mentioned on this forum so many times already I've lost count.

Roberto Carlos is the best player I've used for these. As for free kicks in general I find Pirlo to score 2/3 at least within a decent range for me.

I dont see how this is either a discovery or a bug. How else can you take lay offs fks if not in this fashion...? They are useful for when you are near to the goal and you want to rip through the wall or sneak it in the corner that the keeper is covering. You need extra power for that and this is the way to do it.

I do believe they take off even harder if you press forward+triangle.

its is a bug, because u do a lay off (the ball is passed to the second player), the keeper comes off his line, at full power the ball just flies over his head,

IVE SCORED FROM INSIDE THE CIRCLE ON HALFWAY

team: Liverpool
kicker: Steven Gerrard

try it in practice, its too easy, me and my friend had to ban it (when playing against each other) coz its too easy

bug!, my ass, just coz you cant do them

what you dont call the keeper running out to the 6 yard box and letting the ball float over his head without even making an attempt to save it then running back to the line a bug!?

I have to agree with Dragonfly as it is a bug, its got nowt to do with not doing them its to do with not having control of your keeper if the AI made your keeper stand still it would be like catching practise. The AI wants you to go over the wall so they make the Goalie edge over behind the wall leaving the corner he walked away from vitually empty.

It is a bug in the sense that the keeper advances as soon as it's layed off.
They should really look into that. I cant believe they havent fixed it yet 'cause it was commonly used in PES4.

I dont try that sort of free-kick. I just do the normal one or if a player who has the robbie carlos free-kick is on a free-kick i do them. Am not that bad at them.

when you shot, use r2 for extra pace . if your really far out press r1 and r2 for a bit more hit. Nedved is a killer with these. Roberto carlos or anyone with free kick style like him (long run up) are rubbish as it can be blocked easily using O. I have to defend these alot when i play and rushing your wall out helps alot, as does having a good keeper in a defence mode.
