Edited 'Oldco' Rangers to now be 'The Rangers' have removed squad numbers, added new players (Ian Black) and removed all non newco players, as well as rejigging the index to reflect other SFL teams.

You have Celtic FC down as founded in 1888 which is technically incorrect. Celtic FC was actually founded in 1994 when it took over from The Celtic Football and Athletic Club, which was founded in 1899. The football club, which is not the same as the company was founded in 1888.

You also have Hearts down as being founded in 1874! Technically the football club was founded in 1874 but the company was founded in 1899, when the league began.

This would be the same for any FC founded before the league began.

The same would be correct for Rangers. The Rangers Football Club was founded in 1872. The company which operated the football club was set up in 1899 along with the other founding members of the league. The FC has always been known, officially, as The Rangers but because of the existence of QPR, people have found it easier to call them Glasgow Rangers, which has always been tolerated but incorrect also. Hence the club is still called The Rangers and a change in company name does not dictate a change in football club name!

You will find that the FC and the holding company are two separate entities, as we have seen with, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Celtic, etc etc who all changed owning company's, some more than once, but have kept the same football club name. BTW the majority of those old companies have been liquidated, you will see this recorded at companies house.

With this in mind could you correct the mistake you have for the founding year in the Rangers post please?

Alternatively, could you correct the mistake you have in the Hearts and Celtic etc posts please?
