Hiya!

I've setup a games league tournament in July 5th and 12th 2003, between 11AM - 7PM. Games at the league tournament will be:

Soul Calibur 2 (GameCube)
Tekken 4 (PlayStation 2)
Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution (PlayStation 2)
Halo - Solo Deathmatch (XBox)
Pro Evolution Soccer 2 (PlayStation 2)

Its going to be at a videogames store in London, UK, called Game Focus www.gamefocus.co.uk
They have quite a few new and used import stuff such as Naruto, Inu Yasha, Soul Calibur 2 etc.

Entry fee is £3, 3rd party pads for loan at £1.

Top winner of each game will appear on GamerWeb TV on SKY Digital 268.

Just leave a message if you want more information. Cheers!

Nearest tube: Goodge Street, on the Northern Line.

I believe I will on Saturday the 5th.

Can you give us info on how the PES2 tournament works?
Such as:
National or club teams?
Is it default teams or corrected names etc?
Is it a league or knockout matches or a combination?
Is it OK to bring memory cards for formations?
Length of matches, player form, injuries etc?

Have you taken over the shop for the days involved or will there still be customers etc in there?

Thanks.
Looking forward to it.

The league tournament is partially freestyle. That is we'll be allowing things like custom teams, formation settings, etc. Just as long as the two player agree on the settings.

however, match times will be set at 10 mins (5 mins per half), considering it seems thats a more popular choice among players and will get a few games in.

Is it a league or knockout matches or a combination?

The tournament will be a league table format, winner stays on, so getting as many wins as possible is the goal here. This format works as it lets players that are late a chance to get some games in. The league table system is a modified football league table.

I will introduce bonus points for beating the top 3 ranking players to those with a lower rank. This will give the underdog high rewards for beating a tough opponent, while giving the top players more of a reason to keep their wins intact.

Have you taken over the shop for the days involved or will there still be customers etc in there?

the shop will still be operating as normal, so if you need to buy or sell games, you can do so. Just call Game Focus and ask for details. I think they will be getting WE7 soon, you can pre-order if you want with them.

That's really up to the two that are playing to decide. As long as the two players agree on the settings, it should be okay.

Possibly. I might be there. Know the Northern Line fairly well, but Goodge Street is one of the few stations I haven't been to.

July 12th, most likely. After the birthday and the extra college time, me thinks.

It's all tournamenty and summery now. :D

Don't worry, just give Game Focus a call at 020 7631 0118 and they will give you direction!

I'll create a movie soon to show you from the tube station how to get to game focus.

Cheers!

I'm guessing all you need is £3, your controller and memory card.

This is taking place soon.

It's only on Saturday July 5th and Saturday 12th July, between 11AM - 7PM.

I'm not sure if the entry fee is for each game or for everything.
Good question.

Good question.

£3 is for all five games... All you need to do is put your name down on the queue sheet for the games you want to play by talking to the referees of their designated games.

I'm asking for someone to referee PES 2 on both 5th and 12th july. Players wanting to referee will need to be there at 11AM and thru-out the day til 7PM. the ref will get free entry, and paid a small fee for referee-ing (i really dont know how grammartise this word!). They will also be able to play PES 2, although they will only be playing PES 2 for the nite. I will allow small lunch breaks and cig breaks if needed!

Click here for a video clip to the location of Game Focus.

GameCube only I'm afraid. Not enough PS2s to go around. You can go and buy these GC to PS2 Pad converters for £10, which will let you use your Playstation pads on the gamecube. They however DO NOT convert arcade sticks such as the Namco and Hori makes.

http://shop.game.net/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=10110&mid=307780

If I have enough money left (which is wiltering to an all time low), I'll buy two of those converters for the tournament.

Or, you can always buy the Hori SNES style pads for the GameCube...

Can the ref compete too and if so, who refs those matches?

Will the competition results be put online somewhere?

Steve, do you mind if calculus comes down?!?

as i said on the request for a ref on PES2, refs can play but cause they need to record the matches constantly, they can only play the game they are refereeing. In this case, its PES2. I can only assign one ref per game.

results will be on the game focus & dynamic league website, although the results on the game focus website are the results I'm gonna use in future competitions. The results on the DL website are using the DL system, so you can compare the two for reference.

Anyone can come down as long as they bring a pad and some cash. Or even buy something from Game Focus.
