league tournament - freestyle

I went down for a while to check this out and this is what I found:

There are some very ignorant PES players in this world.

There were at least 3 people who loaded up a master league team just to play as Arsenal and Man United with updated transfers. They actually played a master league campaign (none of them on extreme) just to be able to play as the current squads.

Another guy was complaining why wasn't the tournament played on WE6 as it is much better.
I asked him which patch he used.
He said "what's a patch?"
I explained to him the difference between WE6, PES2, WE6:FE, and WE6:I. It was news to him.
He thinks WE6 is the latest game and I don't think he believed me and someone else who agreed with me.

And don't get me started on the bad boy who wanted to play using default-normal view and nothing else. Nice compromising there.
People who play on these zoomed in views are not playing the game of football. What's the point? It's more like pinball.

LOL

Anyone got any feedback to improve the tournament in anyway?

I've nearly completed the results for PES2 and will be on the game focus website as soon as its up and running.

The setup and organisation was quite good but a few players had some twisted thoughts.

I think there were far too many people in that small room.
People not playing had to stand for ages.
Maybe consider having 2 games (rather than 5) running on a certain day so that more people can come for their favourite game and possibly maximise attendance for each game as well as provide some room to breathe.

5 minute matches for PES2 is not enough and anything can happen which takes much of the skill factor out of playing.

More people would come if there was actually a prize to 'win' at the end of it.

I'm considering 4 games rather than 2... I have to strike a balance for door takings and attendance. I have to make a minimal of £100 per day for rent and another £35-40 for paying referees, which the rest is used to buy equipment. My next on the list is more aircon and a permanent PS2, since one of them is borrowed.

Having just two games, won't reach my quota of £135 minimal cause average per game is 10 ppl.

I've decided weekend, since many have college or school to attend. Weekdays isn't a good idea you see.

Also the way it works is you have to build up your wins, so regular attendance is essential.

The way I've worked the prize system is that in the course of say 2 months, the person who is top of the league wins. It could be a prize of a game of their choice under £55.

There's an important reason why matches are set on 5 mins, PK only, is because I've done this before with soccer games. Games take too long and players were complaining that they had to wait a good 2 hours before it was their turn. There were times where there were like a good 8-10 ppl on the list. 10 mins per match, plus 5 mins for PKs, formation setups, etc. not good.

It would be nice to have more PES2 booths, but my door takings would be so low that the league tournament wouldn't lasted a day.

That's fair enough.
How about people in the forums for the other games, like Soul Calibur - are they saying anything similar about space and time?

I didn't see many people playing Halo but there were much more than 10 for the fighting games.

You have to take account that most are playing between games, so you'll find that they've signed up for more than two game, thus making the illusion that there are actually more people on the machine at one time.

Space and air con seems to be the main concerns. timing not so although one has stated that the time per round (not match btw) should be set at 45 sec rather than default. Timing on that isn't much of a concern since it can be changed with little impact on amount of games played per hour.

Same with halo really, I set the games at 15 kills rather than 25 since it takes longer to reach 25 than 15. and since Halo doesn't have a timer setting, it has to be imposed.

Anyway, i worked out that PES2 had 47 matches, with 6 games played on average per hour. imagine if that had been 10 minute games. it would have ended up at 3 games per hour.

I'll post all stats and full league table as soon as the game focus website is up and running.
