max drive or x-port

Im considering buying max drive. If i download the latest option file (with updated kits, names, transfers) do i just simply transfer it on to the max drive and straight onto the memory card or is there somethig else needed. Or can this only be done using x-port. Sorry but im new to this and i realy want to have the latest option file for the game when it comes out.

the max drive does the same as the x-port. They just plug into the USB ports of your PC then your PS2. It acts as memory I believe...

As I've only got a Max Drive I can't comment on the X-Port, but the Max Drive is a good purchase if you want save games - after a while it is very easy to use though it has thrown up it's own fair share of incidents.

If you want to get the max drive only to get the PES option file, then
you really don't have to get it. Just get the BIN/CUE version or convert an Xport file to a BIN/CUE version (it's explained in this thread somewhere), so you can move the file into your memory card using a CD instead of buying the max drive.

How do you get an option file into your memory card using a CD?
Do you need a 'transformed' playstation 2 to do this?

To run a CDR that you burnt, yes you do need a chipped/modded PS2.
To use a Max Drive and X-Port, no they will run on any and all PS2s.
