Maybe a stupid question?

Okay maybe this does even belong here but I'm having trouble finding an answer in any thread so I'm gonna risk asking.....

Back after Pro Evo I just couldnt wait for PES2 so I learnt about modding and got hold of a patched version of Winning Eleven 6. Basically it was WE6 ordered from Japan which I made a "image" (i think it was called) and patched so it became all in english (apologies for the rudimentary terminology I was never that into the whole scene) anyway I think it was some italian guy who did it....all I can remember.

My question is does that whole kind of thing still happen and can some one just point me in the right direction.... (a link or something)

Obviously with WE8 just round the corner the prospect of modding my PS2 further and playing a english-patched version of WE8 seems too moutwatering to ignore.....

That sounds fine to me. Yes it is called an 'image' of the game.

WE7 is in Japanese. A few basic patches were released which translated it into English. Job done. Later on came the bigger patches with edited kits, stadia and so on.

WE7:IJ comes with a choice of multiple languages so you just pick English. Then you patch it to get the kits and updated rosters and players etc. All the patches should be in the downloads section.

If your PS2 is modded, I don't think you need to mod it further. There may be a chance that WE8 might have an option for English which would be very nice. Or not, in which case we'll just have to play it in Jap until someone releases a translation patch for it. And hopefully the file encryption won't take as long to solve this time.
