Yes the files are different, same principle for most things.

There is something that always bugged me in that great guide for dummies.

Then, go to Action, Repair Corrupted Sectors. Once done go to Action, Rebuild Sector Fields.

If there are corrupted sectors you should only ever go to rebuild sector fields otherwise all the patched info will get buggered.

What is the best media to back up games with? I ma using imation cdrs (700mb) and i'm having trouble playing backups. I am copying the discs directly, is this the correct method? Or should I rmake an image first?

nick, copying should work fine. Slowest speed possible is best.

Jag, Mike is hiding due to loads of people constantly bugging him for info on patching etc.

It´s not quite true, the best speed for PS2 games is 4x, combined with Verbatim CDRs everything should work fine. Read this somewhere a couple of days ago.

I burnt at 1x speed and it still occured.

4 speed always works for me. I like to think there is less time for something to go wrong at that speed!! It's not so much buffer-underruns that worry me, more like me knocking the pc after 40 mins of burning on 1X.

As for copying disc to disc, would there be a risk at 1X that the source disc would spin-down and cause problems when the buffer got emptied?

Extra important information not included in 1st post of this thread:
(would of saved me hours of forum browsing)

PS2 version 7 owners; Slide Card Method will NOT work with GS2 or ARv2 boot disk but apparently WILL work with the Magic Swap Disks.

Thank you edmundo. The Slide card method works with the AR2 on the earlier ps2 models. Released from Launch - Early 2002.

so does the slide card work with the AR2 then? i kno u just said something but i saw u using swap magic disks...would they be better to use?

The swap magic disks are better as they are suited to the required purpose. However the action replay works with the slide card just for booting cd-r games.

Just a quick question about Slide Cards :)

Firstly, if I bought one would I be able to use certain games (which I own), which are backups either created by myself or downloaded from the internet for ease?

Secondly, has anyone else order from PSX Services and are they a trustworthy site? :)

k, is it not better to get a Flip Top Case instead of a slide-card? you don't have to stick a card in all the time to swap youre discs..?

just wondering..

i'm not sure what to use, because i don't know where to get my ps2 chipped.

People prefer to use the flip top because you dont have to slide every time. However, the fliptop actually voids the warranty if it hasnt already. The Slide card doesnt. Its Up to you.
