Ok, there has been a change in venue, and host country due to technical problems down under (Australia) The next 3 matches will be played in England.

The first round of matches continues in this order:

Netherlands v Portugal (Anfield)
Italy v France (Old Trafford)
Belguim v ENGLAND (Stamford Bridge)

(these are the stadia I will use, if everyone is cool with that)

First up is Netherlands v Portugal (2pm Kick off, British time)

I have a new idea....you can see text commentary on my live chat room, on my website...you should be able to get in, provided you have a java enabled browser....gonna try and bring this tournament to life!!...if this goes well, will do the second game (the big one, of France V Italy....I'll commentate on the action)

give me your thoughts on my setup...an hour to go till kick off.

oh...here's the link for the room.

now, if all who enter, stick with their pesinsight screen names, would be better. Also...another idea I have, whilst I'm commentating, and if the managers are here....you can make live changes during the game, substititions, etc...but i dunno if you wanna start that yet as 2 games have already been played differently...but anyways, atleast you can follow the action here....the room is very very basic, but i think it's enough...i'm just gonna set up the teams now....make the changes with the tactics etc...if ya wanna put ya views up whilst i'm doing that, feel free.

John Motson: Well with me now, I have Figo. Figo, great start to the campaign against one of the cup favourites. What do you think of your chances of getting throught to the next round?

Figo: Good.

JM: Err...OK. You also scored today and provided another. A great strike from Pauleta and a potential contender for goal of the tournament. Describe it from your point of view.

Figo: Good.

JM: Good? Erm...yes, thats ONE word for it. Portugal only seemed to get into the game once Stam was sent off. Horiffic challenge from behind and deserved to go. How is Conceicao's chances of being fit fot the next game?

Figo: Good.

JM: Do you say anything else than 'Good'?

Figo: Yes.

JM: Right.

Figo: Where did you get that sheepskin coat? How does the fur bits feel against your face?

JM: Err...Good. Back to you in the studio.

Figo: Hello Mum!

Gary: hehehe...luvin it...its all 'appenin in this world cup i tells ya...yeahhh luvin it...hey trev (brooking) do ya fink i got this london lark 'appenin?.....

Sound man: pssssst, Gary, you're on air!!!

Gary: Errrr....ahemmm ahhhem, yeeees, (coughs) Well, a great result for the portugese then...and bad news for Holland, missing Stam for the game against Ireland who have a great chance to upset the dutch and potentially put them out of the competition...Trevor

Brooking: Yes, they looked quite strong, the portuguese, especially the trio of Figo, Conceicao and Pauleta look a threat everytime they go forward, they will take some stopping over the course of this world cup.

Gary: And what about the Dutch, how can they now improve for the next match?

Brooking: Well, by not getting a man send off! They have enough quality in the team to get a result, but it seems that tradition is coming back to haunt them, as they never quite seem to get it together on the big stage...

Gary: So honours even between France and Italy, the big game of the day...fair result?

Brooking: Well, yes apart from the really early strike by Trezeguet, the Italians controled the game from then onwards and created enough chances to have won the match, Vieri missing many an opportunity. But this keeps group B still wide open.

Gary: Let's see if we can get a word from the french and Italian managers.....
