ML vs BAL, which do you like more?

I'm into the second half of my season as manager of Portsmouth, but it's nothing I haven't done before really...BAL offers a lot more freedom of play and really attaches you to your player. At the moment, I prefer BAL. I've played Fifa 09 (And I like it), but the Be A Pro mode has got nothing on BAL!
Cool, glad to hear that. I'm excited to try this mode after I'm done w/ ML. Say what you want about PES 09 but I think there's good replay value in this title with ML + BAL. It's a damn shame that on-line is shait.

I've been playing BAL solid for 10 season on Top player now.
It's the best thing since turkey dinner, but it takes a few seasons, or five, to get used to it and for your player to really develop. I'm playing for Lyon now, first in the league, doing well in champions league, with Benzema up front and me and Van Persie on the wings.
If you're going to get into BAL, though, you need to understand that your team mates will not perform as well as you might expect, with the exception maybe of some top players who will chip in now and then, like Benzema. Basically, you're going to need to carry the team, but that doesn't mean running all over the pitch trying to do everything, it means you need to make game-changing plays (i.e. goals and assists) every game in order to succeed. It's an entirely different mentaility from ML, and you WILL get frustrated with your team mates from time to time -- but is that different from playing on a real team?

So would you say that playing a defender like a CB is not as rewarding as someone in a position to rack up assists and goals?

You can't play as a defender or a kepper. Only Midfield and forward positions.

BAL right now, however it could easily shift back to ML once I play a couple more seasons in BAL.
