ML - Your team all being of the one nationality

Hey Guys,

It's a long wait between each PES, and most of us here normally 'clock' it on 6 stars within a couple of months. (clock I define as: all leagues + cups + ML: Start in 2nd div - win cup and league = promotion = win treble)

So I tried something a little different recently, I created a team called "Portugale" and made sure I would only buy Portugese players.

Naturally, I found this very hard, so hard that management had to expand it's "solo-portugal" policy to buying Brazillians also. (hey there speak portugese!)

Anyway I found this a trying way to clock the ML, and if you're after a challenge in your ML jadedness you may want to give it a go, but I'm sure picking a team full of players from a larger country like England, or Brazil, would be easier.

IMHO, Konami don't make enough "unlockable" goodies for those that clock it on 6 stars, and I would like them to introduce some varaints such as the "all one nationality" variant to unlock perhaps some clips from the World Cup or something. (They could have 5 ML modes of nationalities such as English, Brazillian, French, Italian, German and if you suceed you get to see some WC clips or something)

Your thoughts?

Cheers,
KR

I used Premiership players in a ML team once, but then changed to Siere A for a ML of their players, was ok like...

It's a nice idea.
I always bought young talents and made them great players. (like Ben Arfa, Fabregas, Cardozo, V.Borre, Kompany, Clichy, Rooney --> like he isn't good in the beginning)

I would probably pick just Italians because they have loads off great players.

Im agreeing with Top Gun, i think Italians have great talents and most of their players are class. Apart from that, im strongly going with the French. i believe they have the hottest talents around, and prodigal superstars.

Yeah, I'd go with the French, Its a challenge but I've found some gems of players who were French.

I must admit my all protugese/brazillian team did make an exception for the young pairing of Dicanio and Zola to join.

Can't not sign Dicanio, He's the best player in the game IMHO. :)

One Nationality

It's an interesting Idea this.. one i haven't tried.. although if it was going to be any nationality it would have to be England.
I bet it would be even more of a challenge to pick a country like Australia as the players from this country are sparse on the game.. apart from the actual National team.. there are very few players from this country plying their trade in the select number of leagues.
I find it strange you couldnt manage an 11 of portuguese players.. they certainly have a few .. If i was to do this my portugale 11 would look something like this..
G) Ricardo LB) Nuno Valente CB) Andrade CB) R.Rocha RB) Miguel
CM) Maniche LM) Quaresma RM) Simao OM) C.Ronaldo
CF) Nuno Gomes CF) Pauleta

Not to forget also Carvalho at Chelsea.. Tiago at Lyon.. Postiga at Porto.. I think I might try this on PES5.. but not straight away..

I forgot to add that I also had the policy of not signing anyone over 30, which cut down my options. (why no Pauleta, figo et al)

It does make the game very challenging, but also very rewarding.

I say: Yes this was missed in the starting post to the thread.. Your options from Portugal wouldn't be a total waste.. I think you'd have to be realistic.. given the fact theres only 3 portuguese teams on the game.. and most of the national teams players play around europe.. your limited definately.. I think i could do it.. but it would be a struggle.. more so than previously anticipated.. Left back would be a problem.,. you'd have to check and see who the national team are planning to play their in the future as Nuno Valente is over 30 isn't he? Up front would have to be Helder Postiga and .. some one else.. Benfica/sporting lisbon/fc porto all have an influx of foreign players. Most of the youth get farmed out to Boavista, Beira Mar and Maritimo etc.. sort of similar to whats happened with Chelski and United.

Thats a good idea King_Rat, i don't mind trying that out myself ;)

What I do to give myself a challenge is to only buy average players...players that would come to a modest club i usualy start with...for example FC Utrecht, Fulham, Wolfsburg and a few others.

Exactly.. when i start as PES United in Division 2 I usually get to the negotiation week and look at the WEFA Rankings.. If you adopt a system whereby you only poach players from the teams that are rated under you or same division then this usually works.
My first few players were Dunn (Birmingham), Kanu (West Brom), Taylor (Portsmouth) and my best one Sergio Ramos (CB/RB) he's very reliable. But by doing this you create a decent enough team and still get challenged again when moving up a division.

The hardest role to fill is the Goalkeeper, they aren't many Portuguese goalkeepers and they aren't the best either. (I had to use Brazillian Marcos)

But some good players do come up if you can 'whether the storm' in the seasons between promotion and retirement, you can snatch the 'reincarnated' Rui Costa and Euserio (legend).

WF & SMP seem to be no problem (bloody nearly all the portuguese players play this position!!!)

But yeah defence is where you get hit if you take a "no 30+" policy, you either have to buy a brazillian (if you play a 3 man defence), and often in DMF you have to use someone out of place like Deco (I usually have Huli Villan in OMF.

But yeah it's a good challenge, One I'll definately be repeating, because to me it all becomes rather a bore after clocking it on 6 stars and having so much points you can buy any player you wish. (I start to get bored and start buying great players only to purposely give them to struggling clubs in other leagues with 59999 points to hopefully see them dominate their league) :)

 After I've steamrolled the ML (on level 6, mind you), I started a french team and tried to bring in mostly french players. My "rule" was to not include any player that are well known (at least not by me) and who did not have a wage demand over that of the ML default players.
