MLO Starter Tips

Hi everyone, having heard a lot of people complaining about coming up against super teams, I thought I would give my opinion on how to make the best out of your starter team...

First things first, go to 'My Team' and rank by Descending Order of Market Value.

Get rid of all the most valuable players - and I mean all of them, forget your hotspots for Minanda, Costolo and all the manure players - get rid!

Now you have to have 16 in the squad, so then you want to go to Sign Player, Show All Players, rank by Ascending Order and sign the 5 most horrendous pieces of trash on the game! These will sit on your bench for the rest of your life.

Ok now go back to your squad and sell 5 more of your valuable original ML players.

By this time you should have a fairly decent bank balance...

Then you have to make a decision on whether to sign one stud player... or a couple of decent players to make a team.

In terms of absolute bargains, I would throw in a few of these guys:

Rogne (CB)
Stlinne (GK)
Legus (SS)
Mikel (DMF)
Jose Carlos (AMF)
Kuyt (SS)

By the way, also don't forget that every game random form is applied, so if you consider stats, always consider the form - out of 8. For example, Kuyt is 8/8 which means more often than not he is on a red hot upper. This basically makes his stats about 32% better if I recall from one of my old manuals.

Good Luck, gents...see you out there.

I almost agree with you but i wouldn't get rid of castolo. I've got him up front with agbonlahor in my team and he scores about the same amount. But i did get rid of all the other ones and bought nani to begin with and built a team round him!

That's fair enough mate - there are still going to be a few of the originals in your team so I guess choose who you want them to be... however I can't remember but I think Castolo brings a decent value back. He can still do a job though, no doubt about that!

Yeah Nani is a good buy, seen a few teams also with Hulk, Cahill, Zidan, Milner, De Jong... so I'm guessing these guys are worth a look in too! Enjoy x

Also, don't forget to look for players with better stats than their actual positions. Good example is Lyng, who will be 10 points better as a SMF than his actual position, CF. That's the real key to getting bargains. Some stats also don't actually affect overal rating for any position, so you are basically getting those stats for free (unless many others have bought the player for similar reasons). For example, mentality, and even technique (for midfield anyway, look at Wilshere and you will see his 93 technique doesn't actually affect his overall rating, so it's basically a free stat).

Also, I hate Nani by the way. Can't stand him, such a showboater and arrogant!!!! Just had to say that ;l

At the begining I would advise to set up the quick match settings for similar level opponents,is true that sometimes you can win more money losing to a ``super team`` than winning a fair and square match against a D5 opponent but for me there is no fun in playing those through balls noobs,no matter how fast you get back on defence and read the through ball 9 times out of 10 the stats gap between the Arshavin`s and Robben`s are too huge for your SB to overcome, the other day I played this son of a bi...that had put Adriano(the striker who played for roma this season) as a CMD so he could through ball to Arshavin from the midfield, can you believe that ??? now as we know Adriano long pass speed is 90+ now tell me how many times did you see Adriano play as a CMF??? that pisses me off and takes the fun out of it.

Now back to the topic,in order to avoid such encounters I set up the quick match settings for similar level opponents and I got say,I am having fun again, damn this game is good, sometimes I will encounter a D1 or D2 noob but most of the time a fair and square match.Once I get enough money to buy decent defence players I will switch back to any level opponets and will kick their asses lol.

Agreed. I wish there was a real option to play against similar level opponents, but even with that setting on your 14 million dollar team will find themselves up against teams with 100 million or more! It's not even worth playing IMO when the gap is that big, but then the real problem is these superstars actually play cheap even though they are stacked compared to you.

Unfortunately, the "avoid player" option on Xbox live doesn't work either.
