MLO - Starting guide - AFC Ipswich Amber [PS3] dr_who_faster

Hi, firstly, I am a new PES player, I have played 100+ games last week to learn how things work and untrain my brain from EA's pocket. So I am re-starting my MLO club with quite a good idea of how things work. This thread is going to detail the steps i have taken and the results i have earned... I hope that other new PES users take a look at this, it might help them avoid a few of the mistakes I made first time around


First things first, choose your team name and in my case, edit the kit

The default squad is not as bad as you might think, you start with 28 players. I'm going to downsize, a starting XI + 6 subs (2def, 2mid, 2fwd) will do. Im going to release my deadwood and sign some new players before playing any matches. So say goodbye... IOUGA, STEIN, FOUQUE, VAN DEN BERG, DODO, HAMSUN, JARIC, ZAMENHOF, LOTHAR, GIERSEN, BURCHET, LIBERMANN, CECIU, HUYLENS, BAUMANN

Now say hello to... DEVAUX - AMF -£1.4m - OR 70, check out his actual stats, add to those the special abilitys and the capability of playing all over the midfield, my first signing DEVAUX is a no-brainer.

...KHAMYRYIVSK - CB - £1.4m - OR 70, A fantastic CB with high tenacity and form also has 4 useful Special abilitys.

...MIRALLAS - SS - £1.6m - OR 70, once again great stats

...CUADRADO - RB - £1.5m - OR 71, very skillful WB with pace, dribbling. Cracks a nice long shot if he has time and space.

This leaves me £250k left over - we'll need some of that for entrance fees'. The squad looks like this...

So now it's time to play some games and earn some money, the team i have here is a good base, it should be difficult to beat even if we don't score a mountain!

My approach was very different. Instead of dumping 1 or more million each on a few players, after selling my deadwood I've managed to use those fiunds to replace EVERY player on the team with similarly valued players who are better in all regards. The key to this is to find players whos preferred position is not where you intend to use them. I've managed to build my team this way so that with the exception of Ivarov every player has been replaced with players who's overal stat is somewhere between 65 and 70 (this excludes the DMF position where I have 2 very good players with overall stats of 62 and 63, and includes having good backups for all the starters with stats no lower than 64 overall).

Anyway, none of them costed over 1 million. Just syaing there are other ways to do this... Why not spend 600,000 on a player who is 70 overall instead of 1.5 mil?

My tips:

Don't reset your team. I'm pretty sure you lose all your money, you'd be better off just selling all the players you don't want.

I also don't use any subs, so I sold all of them and replaced them with the cheapest players available. In fact I use two 20 rated players in my starting line up, the left and right back. I don't use them a lot during games anyway, so why bother wasting good money on them.

Most important thing from the start is to sign someone that will score goals. Iaquinta is a very good bargain, from there on just make sure your front 4-5 players have decent shooting, passing and dribbling skills.

And try to play as many tournaments as possible, they earn you a lot of money. Although to be honest coach mode is extremely boring so I don't bother with that anymore.


My last tip is to use the Edit Mode (from the main menu) search feature to scout players. There you can search per position and then sort by specific stats such as passing accuracy or top speed. Keep a note of interesting players and then go back to MLO and see if any of them are cheaper than they should be.

What an urealistic was to play.

You probably always boot the ball all the way up the pitch and hope for a lucky bounce to one of your top class stikers too, instead of any decent build up play right?

Lol it sums up most of the people online, they just buy a good striker or two and try to do everything with them, i've got a balanced team so can stop their players pretty easily then beat their default defence

Hey, thanks for the advice guys... I have now played 38 games (17/13/8) (0.87/0.61) and have replaced almost all of the default squad, found a few fantastic players that have a 59-64 OR, i think my favourite is this guy... PENDELLER. I am really happy with the team i have now, it looks like this...
