This thread is about advertising. Mostly Konami.

I was really dissapointed before and after PES2010 because of the lack of advertising. I hardly saw any PES2010 advertising

I did see some PES advertising, but nothing too big and nothing I particularly remember..

So what i'm saying is Konami need to advertise more. Way more.

To a lot of people PES is nothing. FIFA is everything (In terms of promotion and advertising)

That's because FIFA is everywhere! From Newpapers, magazines, TV, YouTube, billboards, posters... It's everywhere. Even the staff in GAME and GameStation wear FIFA T-Shirts on the release date of the game.

This is something Konami must do with Pro Evolution Soccer. They don't really have to do all types of advertising that I listed above, just the standard ones such as in Newspapers, Magazines and TV.

I'm sure Konami are more than capable of doing this. Even if EA have more money and popularity...

I just thought i'd mention something new, something that isn't talked about that much in the PES community.

And who knows, maybe this is something that is needed for PES to become sucsessful once again..

Thanks for reading ;)

Advertising always helps (Y)

It would be so easy... just have messi (in game) doing his magic, followed by torres and the usuals, make it look like real life

You got a point there, but i do think that every year (maybe every day) more and more people come to know about pes' existence. However i agree that we don't see a lot of pes advertising in the tv etc.

its too early, wait for gameplay videos, previews and obviously reviews.

wait until e3 when konami releases a new trailer :D

I think you guys are missing the point...

Look what R* did with GTA & RDR, or Square Enix with the latest FF. Even Lost Planet 2 have got on the media circus to promote their titles.

Waiting for release reviews, or just advance advertising in specialist gaming mags won't capture the mass audiences that TV advertising does.

It does come at a cost though. Would Konami be willing to throw advertising at their footy title?

LOL, every year people are leaving PES!! PES of before completely relied on its gameplay and that it was the BEST football game around! they dont need to waste money on adverts they need to develop a better game, they need to start to target their new market, introduce thunder power shots and more arcade action etc...

The TV advertisement should have the in game Messi and Torres interacting with their real counterparts. Just have the in game characters dribbling past the real guys and surprising them. It's a way to put over the game ("better than the real thing"). Plus, it allows them to show off the lifelikeness of their models.

I hope Amateur doesn't see this...

Exactly the sort of thing I'd expect EA to do rather than Konami. EA's advertising experience/savvy is way ahead of Konami's in the west.

thats true even in USA

on FIFAs release day at gamestop the staff wears team Kits
on fifa 10 the gamestop i went to there was a guy with chelsea and a guy with inter kits on working there with fifa being advertised everywhere

btw i play both and usually buy both

PES is so dominant in Asia that Fifa's game is almost nonexistent. Advertising? There's almost no one who doesn't know what Winning Eleven is in Asia that it practically doesn't matter. I'd show you what it's like here in Korea, with ps3 rooms (like internet cafes but with ps3s) completely full of pes 2010 running throughout the night... but when it comes to the west, konami have to step up their game because people in the US or UK don't play games like here in asia, meaning tv ads are practically a must in order for people to even know this game exists.

PES doesn't need more advertising. What PES needs is to get back to the game quality they had years back.

Believe me, if they can replicate the awesomeness which was their PS2 gameplay, then the news that PES is back will spread faster than a wildfire.

I completely disagree with OP, if you have an ounce of knowledge of football games and football you know about pes. Look at pes on the ps2 days, the advertising was minimal yet everybody knew about the game. Word of mouth marketing is much more effective than flashy campaigns for a game like pes.

I would definitely like to see greater publicity for PES cos I HATE FIFA (the game and to a certain extent, the organisation as well)!

I've mixed feelings about this:pES is THE best football game around and it's a football fan's game and I would loathe to see it sink to the level of FIFA where the gameplay is dumbed down to appeal to the masses.

If Konami launches a marketing blitz and it's successful, that means more people will buy. But can they handle the game play and difficulty of PES well enough to sustain interest? It could backfire badly if the much beloved realism in PES turns potential converts or newbies off.

Alternatively, if the campaign is so successful that PES overtakes FIFA as the most recognised (by fans, clubs, organisations and the man on the street) football game, will Konami then be under pressure to tweak the gameplay to suit the general gaming population? At the end of the day, it's a balance that Konami needs to juggle between popularity and the game's integrity. But one thing remains: I am a PES fan for life. =)

Instead of starting a new thread ill just say this here: My pes disk broke, xbox wouldnt rread it but i had an insurance thing out so i could get a replacement for free, anyway i went to the shop to get a few days ago, guy in the shop said ok etc... turned out he had no copies, which was fair enough and checked the system saying other branchs of the shop had some, thing is the other shops had 1 or 2 copies, now i know this is only one shop but te other guy behind the counter says konami never ship/make enough copies... I dunno how bad this is, i know that theres enough to go around but 7-8 months since the game came out and people cant really get there hands on it, it doesnt directly affect konami's sales but if someone buys a cheap copy 7-8 months after its released they might buy the next one...anyway i found it wierd they dont ship that many copies upon relase or after..
