layStation 3 owners will be able to take control of Kratos, the protagonist from the God of War series, in the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot.

According to a report in the Official PlayStation Magazine (via StickSkills), Kratos will be an exclusive playable character in the PS3 version only. He'll even have his own fatalities, combat moves, and God of War-themed combat arena. Unfortunately, it looks as though Kratos will not be available for the game's story mode.

No word yet on what, if any, exclusive characters will appear in the Xbox 360 version.

Also making the rounds this morning is a potential leak of ten new characters appearing the game.

According to fan site TRMK, purported audio files from the game were accidently made public on the official website, revealing still-unannounced characters, game modes, and stage music. The files have since been removed, but not before someone was able to do some digging.

Here's the list of characters found:

- Goro
- Quan Chi
- Stryker
- Noob Saibot
- Sindel
- Kabal
- Shao Kahn
- Smoke
- Shang Tsung
- Ermac

Also according to the website, separate audio files suggest the classic "Test Your Might" mini-game will be making a return.

IGN has contacted Warner Bros. for comment on the supposed leak. We'll post their response when we hear back.

Can someone rename this thread to Mortal Kombat?

I've just played the demo. Was gonna get this anyway but definitely am now. Looks great and still retains the lovely fluid gameplay of the classic games. Even managed to pull off Scorpion's fatality in my 2nd fight by accident.

The end promo is brilliant. Looks to be the most violent/gory MK yet, and I fucking love it.

I am terrible at fighting games but always loved the gore of MK like I love the story of Street Fighter. I think I might just buy it for the practice mode :joel:

Brother always loved Street Fighter, so because I used to oppose everything he ever did, I fell in love with Mortal Kombat and still prefer it to this day.

I think in this generation though both sets of games have been poor. Not a shadow on what they used to be. Street Fighter 4 was especially shit.

I just don't understand what they tried to do with it, it really was a spectacular fail. What annoyed me even more is that the 'hardcore street fighter fans' (but honestly, people only buying the game because it looks cool) fucking loved it :faceplm: I've played every Street Fighter going, and that was by far the worst one.

Looking forward to a new MK game though, the last one I owned was cool as shit but I traded it in for some other games and what not.

Tried the demo last night, tbh not convinced yet. Might have to give the demo a few more bashes before making my mind up.

Pretty much everyone I wanted is included, all the characters from MK 1-3. Dunno what the fuck that cyborg Sub-Zero is about though.

The demo is great. The only way I see Cyber Sub Zero working is the fact that this game will see changes in canon as the game progresses as the story recovers Mk1-3 but with Raiden knowing what is going to happen in the future, and he is trying to alter things.

My bet is that in the original canon, Sub-Zero (the younger sub-zero, the older bro is killed by scorpion between MK1 and 2 and becomes Noob Saibot) and Smoke are attacked by the Lin Kuei and smoke is captured and turned into a cyborg.

The events must be changed somehow during the new MK story and we'll see Sub-Zero taken by the Lin Kuei and he gets turned into a homicidal killing machine, which explains why you can play as both, as at the start at least, there is a sub-zero.

I've only heard Sheeva, Quan Chi, Kenshi and this new character Scarlet so far as DLC. Adding Rain would be good, as well as the drunk cunt Bo' Rai Cho and the comical Havik. To be honest though, I'm happy with what's being given. The later characters don't interest me as much.

She's DLC, but this game is a reboot of the original storyline, so fuck knows when she'll appear in the games new story mode.
