My 2 cents about Slowdown

i m starting a new thread here i could have post in the "slowdown" thread, but i think it can help :

- install PES3
- install teh "konami patch"
- replace pes3.exe with the one on the DVD
- set your vsync to on/always on in your graphic card settings (if you dont know where it is, search.)

this worked on my comp (with monitor@60hz omg what a crappy one) and on a friend's one too(nice 19" not at 60hz), and i hope it will work for you if you have slowdown pbs

PS : as said, some ppl also say you have to set your monitor frequency to 60Hz, i dont think it changes much but you can try this too

Why do some people say that vsync should be turned on and some advice to turn it off? In fact, does anyone know what the h**l is vsync and what´s it for?
Changing refreshrate did not help in my case.

i ll try to explain but my english aint so good... hope it will be clear

vsync on = vertical synchronisation;

when you run a game, it calculates a frame/picture and then displays it and calculates the next one etc
but you will never display more frames than your monitor can (f.e. a monitor @ 60Hz will display 60 Frames / sec and no more)

- vsync on means the cpu calculates the frame, waits for the monitor and displays it, then renders the next frame
- vsync off means the cpu calculates all the frames it can, renders it (well basically you can imagine something like a "virtual" frame), calculates the next one, etc
on its side, the monitor displays the frame available at the time it can display one

PES3 on PC is the same as PES3 on PS2, it means supposed to run on a Console + TV (yeah the PC release has been coded by a monkey with its feets) where you have v-sync
so i think vsync on is the key for this game to run smooth

on another side, f.e quake3, fps (frames per second) are one of the most important thing since basically the most fps you have, the higher you jump, the smoother the game is when you play it.
So you play with vsync off in order to use the fps your cpu can render and not the fps your monitor can display (and you jump higher but its not the main point)

maybe my explanations are incomplete or unclear, so dont hesitate to correct me....

Well.. I didn't get the DVD since the game is full of problems..
Is pes3.exe on the dvd different from the one on the CDrip version ??
And why shall I patch with konami's ver 1.1 and then use ver 1.0 exe ??..

Well.. Here's what I think..
It's for sure 100% refreshrate issue..
So, for the game to work as smooth as PS2 version do the following..
If you have reforce or any other tools FORCE refresh rate, disable/uninstall it..

Install the game (and DO NOT apply the official 1.1 patch).. and play at a 640*480 medium resolution.. the game will work just GREAT with no slow downs and sooooo smooooooth.

You could also try higher resolutions and see if it will work fine with ur PC or not.. ;)

1st part : i think its the same, but if you patch it will ask you the DVD

for me (thats why i called this topic "my 2 cents...")
the slowdown problems of the ORIGINAL released game (without patch) mainly come from vsync which has to be on to run the game smooth
but there are some other shitty bugs (f.e, u have to configure joypads each time you start the game) that you can fix when installing the patch
BUT
you have more slowdowns with the patch than without (yeah they did it! quite brilliant from them)
reinstalling the old pes3.exe lets you play the first version, without slowdowns, but with the patch fixes
so

(*)
- you install the game (you want do play pes3 after all)
- you install the patch (fix bugs except slowdowns)
- you overwrite pes3.exe with the one on the dvd (the patch creates some other kind of slowdowns)
- you force v-sync on (i wanna playyyyyyyyyy)
and voila!

by posting this thread, i wanted to share a solution that worked for me and for a friend
i understand you have many many questions, but please answer mine :
if you have slowdowns, please test this solution (under the (*) )
and tell me if it works for you

this game is great, and it s really horrible not to be able to play it correctly because konami made a cheap PS2 -> PC conversion
