My 2 gripes with ML

Aside from the broken loan system I find two things that I"m not too happy about with ML:

1. Retired players reborn as Newcommers:

I just don't know about this feature... I feel it kinda ruins things a bit. I wish I had an option to turn this off (do I?). I had Canavaro and Nedved and Inzaghi show up in my last transfer window... its like, damn, I KNOW these guys are going to be super stars, but should I know that already?... Isn't that kinda cheating? I wish I could turn that off.

2. Players seem to hook up with teams outside of transfer windows:

Lets say I'm in the last week of a transfer window, and I see that no one is trying to pick up player A. If I look at that player once I exist the transfer window (move forward 1 week) then I see that someone has picked him up and now has a club... how come? I mean, I seem to be told everytime other clubs are trying to pick up players, why are these guys getting picked up in the final week when they don't have the "Clubs are trying to get them" icon next to their names?

I feel that they should still be available when the next transfer window shows up... Am I making sense?

The retired players is the only part that bothers me. They even seem to start their careers on their old clubs.

They start their new career in the Newcomers group and can be snatched from there by anyone. One solution to this problem that comes to my mind is pretty simple, actually: We know they're gonna reach certain level and probably become stars once again... But we do not have to buy them now, let's just wait a few seasons so they'll be like 24. This could add a little realism into that point.
About the second complainment, I have never witnessed anything like that myself, but I'm not paying much attention to players which I'm not interested in. What you're saying might be true, though... I think it could be listed in the "AI Cheats" thread if you feel like it...

Ok, i had a retired playin in vander saar, how did i not get him as a new comer? or a reborn player etc?

He is nowhere to be seen, not even if i search him.

WTF?

Yeah usually if there's 7 or so players I'm interested in I usually just bid on teh guys taht other teams are bidding on as well, so I can grab them before they're gone... and I leave the others alone.. thinking that they'll still be there the next transfer window.. but I checked three times to be sure, and they've always been picked up in the magical AI only transfer period :)

Not a h uge deal... its not like I can pick up EVERYONE as much as I"d like to, but still.. kinda quarky.

if you dont want reborn players, so what else? creating 1000 more unknown players so player wont start vanishing?

Deals have always been able to be tied up in the first week after the mid season window. All that's happening is that teams are making offers on that last day, versus entering into negotiations earlier. You won't be able to see deals initiated on the last day until they're done.

The summer break is (or should be, based on previous games) a different story, though. Last day has always been dead for anything other than trying wrap up deals on hold, which ought not be, imo. Need to be able to buy all the way to the deadline, AND you should be able to pick up free agents at any time during the season, as in real life.

You might have to wait a season or two for him to reborn. Or is it that not every retired player comes back? I dunno but I'd stick to the first option. In one of my MLs Van der Sar retired in 1st season and I found him on 3rd as a 17-year-old.

Precisely. For a real life example think about Arsharvin to Arsenal.

if vandersar retired and u wnated him back stright away u cant i thik u need to wait till midseaon then u can get him the thing i dont like with it is i feel whe i see them with another team reborn i feel like i haft to buy him back cause that player dont belong there

But why not? I'm able to see deals initiated every other time during a transfer window...

Like I said, not a huge deal, just thought it was a bit odd.

I doubt that creating new players will stop others from being reborn. One thought, but I doubt it's correct is that turning player development off could stop retired footballers to come back. If anyone could test that and confirm/bust it, that'd be great.

A solution I came up with to cope with reborn players is not to treat them as themselves, but as a son of the former footballer who just turns out to be like a clone of his father ;)

i uess your theory is right but i havent checked. the farher and son is cool and fits great with maldini... if im not mistaken he has about five generaions of great millan footballers.

LOL i use that theroy i haft to just say it if im doing a bit of commentry like this is hendrik larsson who u may remember played for this team but he is a grandson to him lol
