the ball is to light it feels wieghtless like one of those 99p plastic balls theres no way u can score from the half way line or far out as the ball is soo floaty u have to hammer the shoot and really press alot harder to shoot the ball then pings around like a pinball game
crossing and long passes really favour the ataking team it feals like ur gonna score drom every cross try man u and cross the ball from the wings
throgh balls are deadly as all forwards make good runs
the first touch controll can b really fustrating pinball efect
henrry is an assasin unstopable
6o hertz is full of glitch and corner slowdown
ive always loved pro evo but to be honest the change from pes 2 to three was massive but three to four feals more like a tweaked version
ive always hated fifa its always been a dirty word round hear but played it on the x box and was impressed played it x box live and was good to (2005) if it wasent for the crapy freekicks and corners id say try it its getting closer pes is still king but its time
konami got there s**t together
this feeals like the huneymoon is over this is gonna b real hard work
ill cross my fingers for the x box version

I do not agree. I've played WE8 for a long time and the only thing I can agree with is the slowdown at some arenas.

FIFA is still cack. no real ball touch in it and you can pass players as easy as always.

Why is everyone always bitching over striped shirts and edit mode on Pro Evolution. If you want properly named teams with their proper kits and all that crap go buy shitty Fifa.

I don't care too much for realism, Pro Evolution's gameplay is much better and that's why i prefer it to Fifa. Fifa is too good in some ways, the faces of the players look exact but the faces on the bodies make it look shit which is a downpoint. I also dont like the controls to it.

I'm gonna go buy Pro Evolution 4 tommorow and have alot of fun playing it without the thought of which is better, Pro Evolution or Fifa, and maybe that's what everyone else should do aswell.

Anyone else dissapointed?

I must say after playing Pro 4 all night last night, I am quite deeply dissapointed? Does anyone else feel this?

The game seems to run tooooo fast, the slow down (even on 50hz) is awful. And the new animations? Have you seen Reyes run - it is comical!

My major gripe is the new animations and passing - certain passes look like John Cleese from the Funny Walks Institute passing it!

And the shooting? I can't seem to get any power in the shots, whereas in Pro 3 you could really connect and thump it at goal.

Does anyone else feel this way? Is there any hope for me? Does it get better the more you play?

you still can so do not despair, you just have to hold shoot for longer to put more power on the shots.

i felt the same after a couple of games, but the more you play it the better it gets. Once you have got better at it, you'll find it far more enjoyable, i guarantee you. I was having quite similar feelings to you after a few games but it gets better as you improve.

EXACTLY!!! I PREFER THE SHOOTIN IN PES4 COMPARED TO THE REST. HARDER 2 SCORE. ONE TAP OF THE BUTTON IN PRO 3 AND IT WOULD FLY IN!

i dont think so there was an art to scoring in pes 3 in 4 any oaf can hammer down on the shoot button and it goes on target
the ball pinballs along the ground like a balloon on nitro but goal kikcks and long shots from far out are soooo slow and floaty
yes the more u play it improves i totaly agree but your just living with the flaws
there dosent seam to b any build up play its like a basketball match end to end ping pong
ill learn to live with it
but dont get me start on the pens u just just tuch a player in the box
and there u go its penealty time
gerrard better vierra yea right

"There aren't enough superlatives to describe how good this game is."

^Pundits phrase of the month.

I reckon this game is a gift from God, the people that critcise the passing and shooting will soon realise how restrictive pes3 was. The animations are better, the presntation, graphics, off-the-ball movement have all been improvement.

This is the one I extremely disagree with. When I'm watching football, I see the ball pinging about all over the show, "light as a feather" have been the comments of professional footballers about the modern-day ball. And when I first got ISS on the new generation console, i saw the speed they could implement on to the ball, and I thought with a little fine tuning they could make a valid representation of how the ball flies about when I watch a Premiership game on TV, 4 years later they have finally done it, the way the ball pings around on ground passes, the way it spins when deflected of a player, the ball physics are second to none and I'm glad they've put more power-control on your shots because of this.

The negatives are the striped-kit fiasco, I played my first game against Newcastle, and because I'd loaded an option file off here with all sponsors, I didn't know why anyone was complaining, but then I saw some of the other teams like Southampton, and it is a shame. Also the stupid noise when you pause the game is doing me head in.

The referee keeps on getting in the way, which is class, and I've played it for about 2 hrs and haven't had one hand-ball, quality. And the music in the edit mode is cool.

Don't know mate. I have got WE8 and PES4 (since yesterday), and it does feel a bit different to me. PES4 feels better right compared to WE8 right now, but I have got to play it a bit more to judge it a bit more fair. Right now I would say yes, but I'am a Pro Evo freak haha...

i think i'm IN LOVE WITH pes4 (and my girlfriend's worst fears are confirmed; she's now in second place), and i've only played ONE game so far. but i don't think it matters. last year i was a little bit disapointed with pes3, so i thought that i'd be the same with the fourth incarnation. i was wrong.

everything just feels so much more FOOTBALL. fresher. better.

but what's the difference? only some more transfers and kits right? and the slowdown thing but nothing essential like gameplay, cause i made all the transfers on my WE8 already

Hello PES fans...
I finally decided to join your world.
I have just stopped playing 2 days in a row and i have to give my first impressions.
First let me say that thank god this game is not perfect. We would not be discussing it if it was and we would not be expecting the next one. So, yep it is not perfect, BUT it is Pro Evolution Soccer 4 and it kicks fifa's ass.
So let me start by saying that the new and improved PES4 is better and faster that el numero tres. Thank god!
The speed, the passes, the tackles, the lob shots, the dribbling, the stunning graphics, the referee, the 45 meters shot, the after touch, the teamates running inteligent paterns...man this is heaven. New and improve....
Few things to discuss:
The goalies. maybe it is just me, but i was tired from some incredible superman saves they used to pull from their ass in PES3. It seems to me that they are a little more humans and it is absolutely normal that sometimes they just don't see the shot coming. It really feels more realistic.
50 vs 60...Slowdown or not slowdown..that is the question. It is annoying. So you want better graphics, pick 60. You want NO slowdown at all, then pick 50 and make sure you pick the TV camera. Now that we have the radar on and it is transparent, forget the wide view.
The shot...Yes it is not the same feeling as PES3 but let me remind you that when we switched from 2 to 3 we hated the shot. It just takes time...
the passes...man you can do some amazing series of pass...1-2 are absolutely fabulous...you can paly this game the same way you play chess...you prepare 3to4 passes in advance and in 2 seconds you are taking shots in the goalie's face. Yes I like it very much
But again this is after 2 full days of play and I might find some bugs that will **** me off in the next couple of weeks...BUT so far SO GOOD...
So I am off from my first thread and I have to thank you for this site. It is awsome to share my passion with peps from all over the world

Nothing big for now. I don't see a big difference in gameplay between WE8 and PES4 to be honest. Just more transfers and new kits. Yeah, the graphics look a bit more colourfull in PES4. But in gameplay there is not such a big difference. It does feel a bit different, and IMO PES4 plays a bit better. Oh yeah almost forgot, the pass without the outside off the foot doesn't happen that much in PES4. I really didn't like that in WE8, they took the freq. down for as far as I can tell now.

PES4 - Hmmm...

Afternoon Gents (seemingly all blokes here anyway...)

I got a copy of PES4 this morning, played it, and I'm a little disapointed to be honest. I have been playing PES in all its various incarnations since the beginning of time and I have to say that the background stuff - the master league, etc, - is brilliant and so much better than PES3. But, the game is faster -that is to say that the defenders close you down quicker, the ball moves a little slicker, but I think the real reason that the people who have played it on the whole think it's faster is because (and my humble opinion ) you never feel completely in control of what's going on. I am no dummy at PES but it just feels a little frantic all the time. Having got to play FIFA 2005 last week (and I'm certainly no fan of the franchise) I think that EA are catching on that they can't beat PES so they've 'borrowed' the best bits. In FIFA 2005 you can pass the ball around looking for that killer ball, I don't get that buzz off PES4 (at the moment). Maybe it's because of a new learning curve...What I am getting annoyed at (already had a controller bouncing incident!) is that my players are constantly getting fouled whilst the ref looks on like a spaced out Urs Mier. The heading system has changed and I can't get the hang of it (please let me know - anyone - do you hit the button before the ball arrives or when it reaches the player...?) and the first touch is seemingly random. With my gripes out of the way I'm back off to grapple with the Master League...

go well and good luck

why is it that in every forum i go to, quite a few people are fickle? i remember a year ago people complaining about pes3 saying they hated the shooting, talking about the stutter. then a couple of months down the line, its the best game on the planet. listen, there is always an adjustment period with pro-evo. if they sold us the same product everytime, where wil the fun be? rather than frowning at the changes the better attitude should be to look forward to the challenge of learning this game. pro evo has never disappointed in the past. i know there has been a lot of anticipation for the release of this game, but a little more patience is required to fully understand its workings and therefore get the most from the game.

My first impression on PES4 when I went to the Game shop today and saw one person who played PES4 demo. It impressed me a lot and made me tempted to tell the person to shift, and let me to play PES4 demo. The pitch and the movement of players are so awesome! I think I fancy PES4!

got pes 4 this afternoon played a few games on 60 hz and there is definately slowdown in the area wen taking corners free kicks etc. havent tried it on 50 hz but the slowdown is noticable on 60 hz. Also find it alot faster than pes3 an alot harder up2 now. I went straight on 5 stars as everton and woz beaten 3-0 by liverpool twice. Geting into it abit more now bt still finding it hard. Just need to get used to it i think.
