my first impression of PES4

Your brave going straight onto 5*!! I started off on 3* just to get the hang of it (i do have it on xbox after all) and after not losing a game in 10 matches decided it got the hang of it enough to play on 4* and won the next 3 matches, playing as Arsenal 5-0 (v man city) 8-2 (west brom) and 4-0 (so'ton) so now i have decided to move up to 5*. I recommend to people who first get the game to play on 3* to begin with or have some extensive training practice as some of the new areas take some getting used to (i.e new shooting power). My first ever match was 0-0 against ManUre, i thought i had won it when in the 87th minutes Pires tapped in from an Henry shot brilliantly saved by Howard to find after 5 seconds of celebrating that it was offside!

Hey reyes man, i just got pes4 2day but i haven't played it yet (long story) and u said about the new shooting system, how does it differ, i.e. whats the craic?

You now have to hold shoot for a lot longer to get a good amount of power on your shots, at first i was hitting pathetic shots that rolled into the keepers arms, its more of a improvement than being a negative thing but it takes a little bit of getting used to and don't be surprised if your shooting is shit to begin with.

No i can't say i have, but i have the xbox version so maybe it's just the ps2 version that has slowdown. Ive had no slowdown and the gamespeed ive found perfect.

everybody just give pes4 time!!i bet you any money that in about 2-3 months everybody will be saying this game is the best of the year. i have to say fifa 2005 is ahead in grapics, but to me fifa has always been. fifa aint realistic, and is for the kids!! its arcade stuff.

here is a liltle info on pes4 from what ive notice.

1:90% of the transfers are accurate to date, and have up 2 date teams
2:no sign of any new nike kits
3:i can 100% comfirm there is still a slow down problem, and is not as bad as we8 slowdowns.
4:easy 2 do transfers
5.slightly faster than pes3
6:different style of shooting 2 pes3
7:headers have to be timed to perfection.
8:latest kits for licesned clubs.

Agree with most of that. The slowdown thing is annoying but I hardly notice it, if get it at all since I changed to 50hz and wide view.

Not sure if this is in the right area of the forum or not so my apologies if it is not. I really like the new PES4 and do feel it is marginally better than WE8 for reasons previously mentioned. My only confusions are the following:

1.) How come most player's names are correct at club level and yet they are not at international level (e.g. Bellamy, Van Nistelroy)

2.) How come players/clubs purchased from the shop cannot be used in Master League? It seems that quite a few teams are missing? Is it just me?

Anyway fab game, I'm hooked. I'd give it 96%

PES4 agreements

Hey folks, i bought PES4 from Game yesterday after cancelling my Amazon order. I was wondering if people agree with these things i noticed:
-The goalkeepers are vastly improved

-Although the gameplay is slighty faster than PES3, it still looks and feels better.

-Player appearences are improved from PES3 and I find myself not needing to change stats as much.

-If you change the game to 50 hertz, you get little or no slowdown

Anyone agree
Cheers!

I have found this with the speed issue:

Different stadiums and pitches change the pace of the game. I have played games which have been very slow! Slower than PES 3 then I've played games that have been lightning quick.

Thank you Kev.
Some members can't seem to remember that Konami stated that different stadiums in PES4 will have different paces and ball movements. For example Highbury is the fastest, due to the lovely pitch, the ball moves incredible smoothly. Which is realistic.

I'm expert player and old fan of football games since first FIFA came out, although me and my crew only play PES.

My review of the game:

+ Goalkeepers rox now, they act like real...omg
+ The gameplay is way much better, a bit faster than PES3 , to make the game way harder to play, the passing tackleing, dribbling and heading are now much accurated to the real stats.
+ i must give a 10 out of 10 to the increase of players and teams(no matter license or not, u know who r u otherwise), the make the game more large and interesting.
+ML is way improved omg...those young players getting crack skills, and veterans getting retired to rebirth next season , very nice , that is real deal guys.
+Also ML has way more of info and stadistics and "Talented search" rox .^^

OK now comes into play the real deal of my review:):

*****The strategy and tactical enviroment is now "esencial" to survive on the field.Besides managing dribbling, pases and shots you also need to manage your inner team(tacticsa, formations, individual roles.etc) as well as use 2 or 3 formations during the match just to change the way of playing quickly intead of "re-building" all again.
I could this playing with average players in an average team , you need to think tactical more than ever compared to PES3 , thats why the pace of PES4 is a bit faster, the position and roles of your team is desicive at any time during the game.

*****Editing is a very realistic thing...omg, too many kind of real things, including shaping a body and building with much more details a face...10/10

*****The training mode rox too ... clearly improved, not to say ML training team .:p

*****Shooting mode also better , now you can shot with half bar and ball stil goals into goal .^^...in general i mean..

*****The teams have a variety of gamestile, now they all dont play the same way as old times.:p

*****This is the best game i've ever played...and stil gotta find it out more within coming days. But for what i've seen by now...omg rox rox rox this is pure football, nothing more nothing less..

In Brief: PES4 rox , i expected an improving game , but not like this...this is too much improved...:)

You're quite welcome. I can remember this being said in another thread from an early preview or statement, and it's certainly true. The stadium on the demo (I forget what it's called) is super fast too. I'll try to post the stadium speeds later on tonight after sampling them all, perhaps someone else could do it as well so we can compare to make more stable results ;)

does anyone find that pes4 is just too fast. When you see a player pass the ball it just doesnt look as real as pes3. I've started straight on 5* so dont no if thats got something to do with it but its too fast. its like pes3 on double speed in my opinion.
