I don't know but first hand impressions is that the slowdowns are still very much there. Whenever i play say a CUP tourney it's real bad.master league i'm hoping is better but I don't know?

got my copy last saturday. I have to say i'm enjoying it more than WE8. I haven't experienced any slow down either which is weird because alot of you have said that it's still present in your copies. Gameplay is perhaps a little bit faster than in WE8 but overall it plays really well. The master league is immense. I like the 'create your own team' option, it makes it seem more like a management game. I've noticed that the CPU give away alot of penalties, even on 6 star difficulty, which does make the game easier in terms of goal scoring. Every time i run into the box i always get hacked down. This is the only thing i can see which is wrong with the game IMO.
Overall, it's better than PES3 and WE8.

One thing which I found really amazing in PES4/WE8 is that players can kick "Air" instead of the ball. I have seen several incidences where air is kicked instead of the ball due to poor timing. I hope Konami will explore further on this as it is really realistic. It can create situation where players can raise their foot higher and hitting a player's face or head inadvertently while missing the ball. The injured player may just fall to the ground screaming in pain. That would be really fantastic.

I got PES 4 this morning, and the first thing that I tested out was the "training" (I like this option very much !). My first impression was definetly the high amount of possibillities you have in moves and shots. This is definetly also the hardest part of the game, to know all the codes by heart (which is letal in a match) ...

At first sight, I really found it hard to score but after playing severall hours I do find the nets more easily :)

Also nice that you can shot on the ball when it's bouncing, this does gave you more control with your shot. Also there's a lot of heading in the game (when defensing on a high ball) ...

But as expected, there are only 2 Belgian teams in the game (Club Brugge => FC Belgium and Anderlecht => Bruxelles). Only to bad for the Belgian users ofcourse, but it doesn't spoil the fun at all !

Conclusion: The more I play it, the more I like it ! I think there's a lot hidden in this game which you can even find after playing severall months (the fun will never stop)...

P.S.: Awesome intro, at first sight I thought I was watching a REAL footballmatch :) !

First impression- konami achieved the impossible once again, improving on near perfection to create yet another fuckin magic footy game. Ill tell u one thing, the missus aint happy, so much so that i cant leave her in the house alone with my ps2. Jealousy can make people do some crazy shit

I loved pes3 and will soon be getting pes4 for xbox for the online play. Anyway i love it apart from a few niggles.

Firstly the dibbling is far too easy because when playing against mates you can just run past them and the conservative tackle does sod all except unbalance them a bit.

The headering for the once tap O is crap, hardly ever go in so have to use O twice to get a header on target.

Finally is it me or are the keepers just dum, they never dive for the ball if its just inces wide and sometimes they thinks its going wide and it goes in. Wats with that overwise a great game but should have kept somethings from pes3 in pes4.

I am disappointed with the 4th incarnation of Pro Evo. I was disappointed with 3 and therefore continued to play Winning Eleven 6 FE.

Dribbling is the standout improvement for me, far more fluid and enjoyable than previously.
Nevertheless, I have some gripes. Players lack mass when compared to those in Winning Eleven 6 FE. The physics feels 'floaty'. Passing and shooting lacks feedback. Connecting with a thumping shot or header doesn't feel the same as in Winning Eleven 6 FE...I put this down to the feeble sound effects and the spritely animation which fails to convey such realism. I want to feel the 'SMACK' of leather against ball when I connect with a volley. An option for force feedback would be welcomed.

The commentary is still awful and Presentation is very poor...amateurish. Inexcusable.
Konami have become a little lazy and I know of a few previously hardcore Pro Evo fans who have switched to FIFA 2005.
It is a fun game but I hope next years incarnation presents a more polished package.

pes 4 has some negative aspects, but it's still far more better than fifa 2005!! fifa sucks really. the gameplay isn't realistic.
